    Aston Villa v Arsenal

... I hope you're not expecting the referee to be able to see through two players to see the offending hands ;) The angle from behind the goal is very good - shows the foul - shows the referee coming round but is (unfortunately) right behind the players at the exact moment of the foul Would be...

Kicking a corner out ground in celebration of goal

Surely you're not going to caution a player for leaving the pitch to do his shopping ...

Kicking a corner out ground in celebration of goal

I don't mind "excessive" ... I do mind players doing damage, time-wasting, taunting oppo players as part of their goal celebration I'm going to try look sympathetic on 'funny' celebrations too .. I've given the example before of a player scoring a goal, leaving the pitch and jumping on a...

Kicking a corner out ground in celebration of goal

I hate curtailing goal celebration - makes me think I'm one of the NFL referees throwing 15 yard flags if 2 or more players care to dance in formation I once saw (as an AR) - a player take the corner flag out and throw it like a javelin (into an open space) - no card - although that was maybe...

    Remarks from Speactors

I recently had an incident where I clearly heard a spectator shout across to my CAR on the far side "you cheating g1t" ... he wasn't having a great game - but - once he picks up my flag he is on my team for the game so I am immediately protective of him ... I did something a bit silly Ball was...

Best complaints you've ever recieved from an aggrieved team...

ALWAYS play with the wind first half for this reason - albeit safe to assume the slope won't move during the game :)

It's the risk of momentum towards a player in a 'tackle area' ... uncontrolled movement (in the air, too fast, etc.) carries a high risk of impact A player could equally win the ball and then carry on in an opposition player ... foul ..?

For me: if the ball is still in play when the contact is made = penalty if the ball has left the FOP = goal kick It's harder to sell than a 'similar' foul elsewhere on the pitch that players are more likely to accept and get on with the game (because of where it is) ... one could read this as...

Yes! Mignolet gets nailed for >6 seconds. :-)

Who else is now more likely to penalise a GK for this now that a 'TV ref' has done it first !?!? I'm guessing the ref and / or the AR and / or the AAR is shouting at the GK to encourage him to release the ball - same as we all probably do (rightly or wrongly) - very publically - then an easier...

Ending the Game during promising attack

" ... last 30 seconds of added time ... " was there time left in the game? From the description of where the play is it isn't clear whether the attacker & defender are both running towards the goal, or if the defender is goal side of both the attacker and ball

    Should this game abandoned?

@Jacko - they largely accepted it and cracked on - wasn't a constant wind - a few delays on free-kicks with people waiting for the wind to calm down ... More moans about a free-kick late on that led to the equaliser

    Should this game abandoned?

We discussed this at our referee society last night - mostly because the referee is part of our society :) There was another occasion in the game where a goal kick left the penalty area (forwards) and then was blown out for a corner Players did adapt - most enjoyed & accepted it ... there...

Open Age Match Control or Coaching?

I did that once - very early on in my ref-ing ... even though it was a one-sided pre-season friendly - I got rightly smashed pretty much by the whole defending team - including bench ... lesson learnt
