I find talking to myself helps - especially at the start of each half ...
last touch red
throw to blue
blue are going to my right
stick flag up to the right !
If the match needs it - and even then only for certain periods of the match - e.g. high levels of misconduct, fouls, etc. - then I would be blowing for everything ... but yeah - give every game the chance to find it's own level - which includes playing an advantage wherever it helps the game
[My first bullet is incorrect - agreed - should say object]
I'm on page 25 and 72
Page 25:
Stops, suspends or abandons the match because of outside interference of any kind
Page 72:
If an extra ball, other object or animal enters the field of play during the match, the referee must stop the...
I get the handling offence - same as throwing your boot or shin pad at the ball - never seen it but know about it (would love to actually see it though!)
I'm thinking BEFORE the blue player does what he does ...
is there an outside influence ... yes - the 2nd ball is on the pitch
is the...
... Fair point @CapnBloodbeard - I'd be happy with a caution for unsporting behaviour - regardless of what the re-start is (which I'd still like to see as a drop ball)
... but the CARs can be soooooooooooooooooooooo handy by keeping those on the pitch updated with how their 5-fold accumulator is going - why not reward them by letting them have a bit of flag-waving power :p
Always get their names before (from team sheets or ask the manager) - use them to call them in to the middle
Have the chat with the CAR there too - so they know what you've told them
Other than that - short and sweet works best as others say above ... I currently go "it's your game - if your...

@Isaac - well handled - with the support of the other team ... if they had said "no" and wanted to carry on you would have had a different situation !! ... I guess if they'd said no they may have found an injury from somewhere to allow a quick pep talk ;) ... well done though
Some of the acceptance pressure ranges written on balls are really tight and often at the low end of the LOTG range
Ideally the balls are with you - clean - nice & early - and you can gauge them
If you do end out on the pitch and time is up pre-game - I've thrown a ball at the GK before to...
Well handled @Lefelee ... reminds me of the Kaiser Chiefs song - I Predict A Riot ...
I like your comms to the assembled mob
I think "You Are The Ref" had a similar situation earlier in the year and the 'answer' was 2 yellows (... it may have been for a trip rather than playing the ball ...)...
@Jacob M - the ultimate solution - become the Referee Secretary on the League yourself ... it's a love / hate job that we've all probably done before ..!
It's not a great option - but - with hindsight - if the pitch is obviously going to deteriorate - you could have played 35 min each way from the start
I'm awful at this - I probably might have given it a go and then just carried on to finish the game - with everything crossed nothing bad...
From personal experience (as I know every situation can be different) ... I was hit once - on the wrist / hand - very hard - by a player I was preparing to caution ... it was a shock, it hurt and for a short period I was in a bit of a daze ...
For me - it's at this point where I need to make a...
