    red-yellow-no card

You don't think a player coming in straight-legs, studs up i the region of where a follow-through is likely to occur is reckless?

Aussie A-League ref transfers to England

He'll probably do well over there. I've always thought he's been a subscriber to the 'referee presents the entertainment package' school of thought with refereeing (that is to say, don't expect mid-field decisions to necessarily benefit smaller teams, though he'll usually get the critical...

    red-yellow-no card

This is a weird one....because the 'victim' has himself completely missed the ball as well. The fouling player, seems like he was making a black based on expecting the opponent to actually connect with the ball. Sure, studs up onto a player's follow-through is very dangerous, and had the...

    Red or Advantage?

edit: what's the point? I'm done with this thread.

    Red or Advantage?

Was only DOGSO because the ref blew too early. Really it's a failed attempt at DOGSO then the ref intervened to ensure it succeeded

    Red or Advantage?

He failed to apply advantage and in blowing too early has incorrectly disallowed a goal and artificially created a situation where a player needed to be sent off when they shouldn't have been. So yes, that's a massive error. It's not factually incorrect or any of the other things you were going...

    Red or Advantage?

There was a clear error. Referee is required to apply advantage here. He failed to do so and denied the team a clear goal. I'd prefer to think for myself than blindly follow coaching. I'm sure we all have examples of where even high level teachers/instructors have said things which either...

    Red or Advantage?

Couldn't disagree more. Delaying the whistle isn't playing advantage - it's seeing if there is one. If, say, the defender got back in time and cleared the ball then there was no advantage so the OGSO was denied. Your rationale seems to be mixing up holding the whistle with playing advantage...

    Unexpected penalty, good spot

    I did. There's 1 player half a step in.

    Absolutely Pathetic!!

Could make the same argument for retaliation after a player has been cleaned up. The player is responsible for his own actions.

    Unexpected penalty, good spot

There's 1 player 2 steps in - encroachment is very minor here. Agreed. It's preventing a fair shot on goal here.

    Penalty or no?

It's a clearcut penalty. Keeper went for the ball, missed it, got there late, took out the player.

    Red or Advantage?

A goal is the biggest advantage you can get. Absolutely DO NOT mistakenly think that a red card is somehow more advantageous than a goal. First minute or last, doesn't matter. It's not complicated. In a case like this you need to delay the whistle. No ifs or buts.

    Second yellow during one advantage?

Why wouldn't it be a 2nd yellow? Advantage on a yellow doesn't give the player the right to do whatever they like. Some refs like to shout "advantage!! I'm coming back for that 6!" when playing advantage on a card. If you have to give the 2 cards, use hand gestures as you're talking - explain...

    Exaggerated fall

Yeah but if somebody is rolling around on the ground screaming pretending to be injured when they're not, they're looking for a card for the opponent.

    Exaggerated fall

P106 of The Good Book: attempts to deceive the referee e.g. by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled (simulation) Note that this is considered a 'must caution'. And personally, I think the game desperately needs cheats like the one we're discussing to be booked. Sure it may...

    Exaggerated fall

1)simulation is under USB anyway 2)feigning injury is most definitely cautionable

    Exaggerated fall

Would you honestly have given the pen if he stated on his feet? You can definitely stick with the foul but book him for feigning injury. After all feigning usually comes after a foul. Screaming in pain but good a few seconds later? Good case for a card.. You'll have to explain it was still a...

    Jansson red

Yep.. Should have been a straight red for DOGSO really.... But in this instance probably no harm taking the easier option of the YC. Easier to sell, appeal - proof, same outcome this match and for suspension
