    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

Guess and get it wrong just like the officials sometimes do……. PGMOL have PR people. I’m sure they could clear any confusion up with the media they release it to. I agree that Howard seems fairly open. But I’d say he’s behind Willie Collum in Scotland (and maybe Spain based on what @bester...

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

But as @GraemeS says, it can be released to the likes of Sky and Dale whatshisname. I’m sure they could dumb down who is saying what.

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

If you believe the comms to be that bad, maybe PGMOL have a major communication issue. Comms is expected at lower levels, albeit they won’t necessarily have comms kits. If our professional colleagues who do this full time can’t communicate with each other well enough that people can’t...

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

It’s 2025, I’m sure it would take no time at all to add subtitles for what is being said and by whom

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

In reality, they could and probably should start releasing VAR audio quicker. Rather than in 3-4 snippets a year. I don’t really see any reason why they can’t. Editing any bad language wouldn’t take any time at all

    Wall or a fence?

Which is my point. What is the cut off point where someone can visually tell? Answer to that is, no one knows, and no one can realistically eyeball exactly 1m on a screen. So VAR needs to stay out until the time comes in which sufficient tech is there. Or the referees go back to basics and...

    Wall or a fence?

of course you can argue against the Guehi one. Just say it’s all about perception. You, nor the officials have proof of this after the fact. After all, they don’t have the tools as has been said. The easy solution here is for the on field referees to actually take responsibility and manage the...

    Wall or a fence?

I know I know, was merely making the point. Up until semi-automated offsides, the cameras weren’t setup to accurately gauge offside. Which is why they had so many issues with it.

    Leeds v Everton

The defender knows full well what he is doing, and is playing with fire by doing it. But on the flip side, has he made himself bigger or have his arm in an unnatural position for what he’s doing?

    Wall or a fence?

But you can’t ‘think’. Like offside, whether they’re 1m away is black and white. It’s not down to what someone thinks. They’re either more than 1m away or they aren’t.

    Wall or a fence?

But VAR was brought in to eradicate those mistakes. Yes there will always be discussions about whether something was SFP and so on, but for factual moments like we’re discussing, it’s inexcusable. But the VAR doesn’t need to judge it live, they have replays……..

    Wall or a fence?

Not really an acceptable excuse to say that a referee, 2ARs, 4O and then VAR & AVAR who have replays ‘missed it’ though is it? They’ve missed something that is in black and white in law. You’re saying there’s more than 1m between Zirkzee (11) & Calafiro (33)?

    Youth games

You’re forgetting that it’s okay for those pro players to do that, as the officials don’t want to upset or surprise anyone……. So they’ll just randomly enforce other laws at random points to upset, confuse or annoy people instead
  14. R

    Wall or a fence?

A couple of examples of this law being ignored in last couple of seasons
  15. R

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

Your message infers VAR said they can’t get involved. You don’t know they said that. But I’ll leave it at that. I’ve no time for bullies. It’s just a shame fellow mods allow you to get away with it

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

are you saying this as a matter of fact from a position of authority?

    EFL OFFINABUS

So we don’t sanction something as it would surprise people and cause confusion? Much like the Crystal Palace disallowed goal did?

    EFL OFFINABUS

So if it’s not about upsetting people, what does post 59 mean? No, I’m Dale Johnson. Your normally love quoting me when it suits.

    Liverpool Vs Bournemouth

Weird. You normally love quoting Dale Johnson, and I’ve never seen him quote a source……

    EFL OFFINABUS

I was the first one to literally use the word upset, yes. But look at post 59. Here it is inferred. And if it wasn’t inferred, what does imagining the response of the footballing world mean? I also asked what the below means. What exactly are they guided to instruct new starters? As a referee...
