    Frustrating news regarding promotion

You'll have to serve a full year at L5 before you can be promoted to L4, so a double jump from 6-5-4 isn't feasible I'm afraid.

    Dissent/comments towards CARs

I’ve just swapped counties with one with CARs doing offsides, and while it definitely took the blame off my back, it caused me so many problems in abuse towards CARs, that I was just unprepared to deal with. Obviously going to have to get used to it, but can’t see myself liking it - prefer the...

    Dissent/comments towards CARs

And this is why I prefer doing offsides myself 😍

    Cardiff vs Leeds

That’s if the advantage is successfully played though. In other words, play is not stopped for the offence. In this case, the referee has decided the advantage did not materialise, and penalises the offence by means of a DFK. As the offence has now been penalised with no successful...

    Flashing cards quickly

@ChasObserverRefDeveloper Interested, is there ever an occasion where you’d be teaching a ref to show the red card ASAP, rather then undergo the full isolation process. For example, as the OP suggested, to reduce the chance of conflict/retaliation?

    Cardiff vs Leeds

He was one step away from cutting in towards goal, so happy with the direction criteria. Distance, Control and Location of Defenders are all clearly applicable. Has to be red for me as such 🤷‍♂️

Any advice on the best league to sign up for

Newport is South Wales FA, however I know teams/players from Monmouthshire play over in the Gloucestershire League. There will be Tier 4/5 Leagues in Gwent/Newport that you can register for (can find the names if you wish). Tier 3 and above is Ardal/Cymru Leagues so have to be promoted up...

First OA Middle - Youth Ref

Been there, done that in your position mate. Head up, give them a game of football and the rest follows suit.

    What would you do?

On the pitch maybe. Otherwise, I’m conveniently not seeing it.

    What would you do?

Im guilty of missing at least 4 red cards this Sunday just gone before KO then. We’ve been advised by people at our CFA to apply the spirit of the law. Not making it off the pitch alive if you throw a 2 match ban and £65 fine at 4 players before KO…

    MOAS appointment

More likely too late. Extra Prelim/Prelim round and respective replays all finishing up this week. If you're below Level 4, which is 95% likely to be the case at 17, I'm afraid it's a year wait for the next round. FA Youth Cup/FA Vase still in early stages.

    Kit clash

Unless there's been an error with Truro's details on confirmation/team sheets as they recently changed home shirt colour, it's some miss.

    Junior/Youth First match next week!

You reminiscing on your younger days there James? @RonnieM You're a qualified ref, this game is the first of the endless learning experiences. Trust your instinct, and be flexible. What works in the 10th minute may change in the 90th minute, as the expectations change and the game unfolds...

    First Step 5 Game

The ref should make contact with you prior to the game with specific details of what they want. Generally: Arrive 60-90mins prior to KO. Wear smart tracksuit to the ground, to be changed into match kit before Kick Off. Might be expected to stay for post match hospitality, and more likely than...

    Hinckley Vs Aylestone Park

Red, Red, Yellow (however if this led to a mass con, red is understandable for a plethora of reasons).

Junior/Youth training matches for youths - shinpads

When I played the club policy was no shin pads, no training. U9s right up until I stopped 7-8yrs on.

    Open Age First OA game

This is a very good point - it's a very fine line between throwing the ref under the bus and protecting your credibility. Think, if you were the ref, what would you want your AR to say? I find I take a political line, and I'll not get myself involved in penalties down the other end, red cards...

    Car share etiquette

Knowing you, feel for any ref that has to get in the car with you. £60 penalty. :)

    Player removes shirt before scoring...

I'd still be cautioning. The shirt presumably stays off during his celebration for the goal, and therefore he has removed his shirt, in my opinion, in order to celebrate. He can argue any two ways around it, but the game expects a caution here imo.
