As AR with no comms I always ask the ref in pre match. Most want help with chest tap YC, back pocket RC. If a ref is looking at you wanting help with an orange card, they are not going to think you are scratching you a***! Even with comms I have a couple of refs that want code words instead of...

From what you describe it sounds like you should have carried on and accepted the goal. But what’s the learning here? Sell your decisions and non-decisions as quickly as possible! As soon as it hits the face either whistle or shout “carry on” or similar. You might get away with a second or two...

Why in law is it allowed?

I still get players claiming a goalkick when they clearerly touched it last for a corner. I can’t believe this as it’s been in the laws since 1868 or thereabouts!

I think it’s not a valid comparison. If anything both have specific provisions in the LotG that make it clear that this is an offence and “being in an offside position” is not an offence.
