It has been publicised that the Bridlington Town v Knaresborough Town FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round Replay that was played last Tuesday will be replayed tonight. During extra time Knaresborough, the side that lost the tie, was refused their 5th substitution (3 in normal time + 2 in extra time)...
So far I have found that a shout to the goalkeeper the first time they have only a few seconds left is enough to remind them to get rid of it. After that the compliance is pretty good without counting out loud etc. It probably makes an easy proactive/preventative development point for an...
I was going to ask from the Southampton v Wrexham match should Edwards have been penalised for DOGSO when conceding the penalty for shoving in the back? There was not even a caution given but I personally would have not minded him being sent off given the circumstances and it did not appear to...
Sorry I've posted a duplicate thread (and poll) but my thinking is no one is entitled to a written aid that they haven't kept on their person so would not take action.
Following from this thread.
I may be in a minority of one who read too much from the Law 8 change, but this may be of some use to others in case of any doubt.
IFAB has confirmed via email that when play stops from the ball changing possession after striking a match official, the ball is...
Be on top of jewellery / equipment. Participants may be accustomed to a lower threshold for fouls. I find there tends to be fewer verbal issues but when it occurs can escalate quickly, so be alert as usual! Finally I would say there is often less appealing for decisions so don't be deterred from...
Yeah I was imagining a possible appeal along the lines of 'advantage played so was wrong to go back to the foul', though this was quick enough to go back in law so shouldn't really be a successful argument, it can look like giving two bites when signalling like that.
I'd say it's a stretch to say he didn't signal advantage when we see his arm signal first and then only blowing the whistle when the GK won out in the following challenge. Don't think he'd have blown if the attacker had got past!
Second one there is a closer angle that was shown on ITV...
Walsall v Swindon (2:01) - player sent off for DOGSO despite advantage being signalled, wonder if Walsall are appealing it
MK v Oldham (0:30) - missed penalty decision but then a good spot for simulation on the next highlight
All my leagues have been paper, except the Northern Counties East (Step 5/6) which is electronic and until now used 'Grassroots Live' (run by RefSix, not integrated with RefSix) but this season is using Football Web Pages.
I'm happy with this being the intention, as it is absolutely fair, but I don't see how the Law 8/9 text written as it is actually tells us that.
I think Law 8.2 needs a tidbit adding to disregard contact between ball and ref when determining possession.
