    Fulham Suspensions

If FA follow their own disciplinary code, it should be a minimum of 6 months?

    MUN vs FUL

FA statements are out Fulham, Marco Silva and Aleksandar Mitrović have been charged following the incidents that took place in or around the 72nd minute of their tie against Manchester United in The FA Cup on Sunday 19 March. It’s alleged that Marco Silva used abusive and/or insulting words...

    Forest v Newcastle

If it had been given I think there would be plenty arguments for why the goal stood. I can certainly see there is enough of a movement towards the ball to try and put it out for a corner imho, but comes off his heel and skews back to Newcastle player. That would count as deliberate according to...

    MUN vs FUL

I wondered whether “ deliberately leaving the technical area to: • show dissent towards, or remonstrate with, a match official”

    MUN vs FUL

The inevitable comparison to rugby, sorry…. You can expect a ban of up to 12 months for verbal abuse or physical contact. In terms of Mitrovic, I don’t want an example set of just him, I want clear minimum sanctions and for it to be applied consistently.

play acting gets a player sent off

FA have reviewed and rejected Northampton’s appeal. I can understand the match officials being deceived on the day, but surely, surely, on review a red card for VC cannot be upheld?

    IFAB Changes

Disappointed not to see temporary head injury assessment substitutions. Really don’t understand why IFAB so against this.

    Arsenal vs Tottenham

    Man Utd V Man City

It’s a bit like marrying your cousin. Feels wrong, lots of people unhappy about it, but technically within the law. 🤣

    Different colour referee kit

To confuse matters, if it is a league or league cup match the home team must avoid any clashes with other team or officials and wear their ‘away’ kit, if it is a Scottish FA Cup match, the away team must change.

Hearts vs Hibs - why no red?

Ref blows whistle just before goal scored, so cannot undo that one.

    Different colour referee kit

Here in Scotland I have a black kit and a yellow kit, today the match was all black team vs yellow team. Sods law! Put a bib on myself, at the end of the day I referee as I just want to see people playing football on a sunday afternoon 🤷‍♂️

Hearts vs Hibs - why no red?

Hi All Sent off a player today for handball in penalty area that stopped definate goal, coaches shouting it should be yellow and cited the hearts vs hibs game. I thought law was pretty clear, red card handball dogso, any thoughts why this is yellow and not red? watch from about 1.30 thanks

    Semi Automated offside

I think the semi-automated offside system and process is working really well in the world cup. There, I’ve said it 😬

What's the latest time in a game you've given a card?

After the game when a player came up and said “call yourself a referee” then turned round to a coach and said “how much did you pay him”.

    Pre match chat with teams

We were warned on our ref course to avoid as much as possible outside of hello, have a good game, as otherwise if you say what you are looking for behaviour wise, how you will approach game etc then you are setting yourself up to be knocked down if you don’t follow through i.e don’t over promise...

red card offinabus story from another referee

I did mean it as a jibe yes, but if it was said with anger, he went running up to his teammate to confront him and screamed it at him nose to nose, then that is a different context. Still not sure I would give a red for offinabus with those words even with that context. Probably more looking to...

red card offinabus story from another referee

I can agree with this, and would add context is key. Compare OP: “The referee is a f***** u****** t*** “ with instead a player going up to a team mate who missed a sitter and says “Hey johnny you are a “f***** u****** t*** “ Identical swear words, different context, one is a red card, one...

    U14 boys red card

Personally the only thing I adjust for age are those things that can be subjective, the scale between careless, reckless and serious. For clear contraventions of well defined laws such as DOGSO you have to stick to the rules. Sent a 14yo off on Sunday, felt terrible inside for the young lad...
