    Fulham v Wolves

It would be a soft red

    Fulham v Wolves

I could support that if given on field but I’m not sure it’s a clear and obvious.

    Fulham v Wolves

It’s harsh, but definitely supportable, and certainly not enough for a C&O error. From some angles it looks worse than others. I don’t think there can be too many complaints about it as it was awarded on field first.

    Got refused my first handshake

Yes, I stand in the centre circle and look busy with my watch. Allow anyone who wants to shake my hand to do so, but still get comments sometimes instead of a handshake, as demonstrated above. I do however make a point of shaking the managers’ hands regardless after that.

    Got refused my first handshake

Yesterday instead of a handshake a player told me to “come back when I had my refereeing license”. Straight in the book for him.

    DBS

These issues often happen when a referee turns 16 (I think that’s the age you need a DBS from), but qualified at an earlier age. CFAs can’t really keep up to date with everyone who needs a DBS check, and for a lot of young referees it will be the first DBS they ever have to apply for. This lack...

Dissent from Managers and supporters from Grass Root footbal

There’s definitely something in this. I reffed an U15 game today. Gave out five yellow cards across the board - was told after the game that it was the first time in three years one of the teams had a player booked. They were one of the most difficult teams I’ve refereed all season. The manager...

    Can anyone expand on this?

I’ve seen the same reports on Twitter from other accounts. If true he needs sanctioning harshly. Unfortunately for him maybe the FA need to make an example of him.

    Fenerbahce Vs Besiktas - Women

I don’t understand how a team of officials at that level make such a basic error.

    Potential change to offside

Every year there seems to be less and less consideration for the majority of the game and more consideration for how to make games look good on TV.

    Ukraine VS Italy

Does anyone have an opinion on the late penalty appeal in the Ukraine vs Italy game last night? Here’s a link to the video on Twitter: https://x.com/viaplaysportsuk/status/1726717306279997720?s=46&t=GfQ8Fi_YHXFpmfA2kWAe9A Personally for me the angles given on the footage aren’t brilliant...

    North Macedonia v England

The entire Channel 4 production tonight has been dreadful. So much focus on the referee and not enough on the fact that England just played quite poorly.

    North Macedonia v England

Apologies if it comes across that way. Of course I don’t want to come across as presenting a subjective opinion. From an objective point of view though he had definitely made better decisions in other games. I’ve no doubt he’s a top class official, better than anyone on here but he’s been put...

    North Macedonia v England

He’s definitely not had his best game ever…

    North Macedonia v England

That goal is a very good example of why Wenger’s proposed offside rule, (as mentioned in another thread), would be absolute nonsense.

    North Macedonia v England

It’s not my style personally, but a lot of people claim they want referees to be more like that nowadays. However then the moment a referee is confrontational people realise they don’t like it.
  17. S

    North Macedonia v England

Not a penalty for me, though an unfortunate circumstance for Rico Lewis to find himself in. What has annoyed me more however is one of the Channel 4 pundits claiming that the referee wants to be “the star of the show”. He’s a professional referee for god’s sake, he’s made a shocker on the...

    I need some advice

Unfortunately if it’s DOGSO, it’s DOGSO, whether a team is winning 2-1 or losing 8-0. I can see the argument for ignoring the sanction for an age group that doesn’t play 11v11 in this circumstance, but by U14 they’re old enough to know the rules and they should be enforced as accurately as...

How do you see everything, all of the time?

I might be being stupid or have missed something here, but why specifically red #6?

    Potential change to offside

There doesn’t seem to be any consideration how this would work in a league without VAR. It’s a massive change for officials to get used to, and I would possibly argue that this is harder to see with the naked eye than it is currently. It also just moves the point that people will be arguing...
