    Forest Vs Liverpool

From what I’ve seen and read I think there was a clear error in the application of the law, and for that there needs to be serious questions asked. However, under no circumstances should there ever be anyone who is not a player, technical area occupant, or match official on or around the field...

    Advice on soft penalties

I always feel like this is the case. Time just kind of stands still in those few seconds before a big decision. I reckon this essentially means that the captain agreed with the decision but didn’t want to admit it because it may have cost his team the game.

    WHU v Bre

We will all be familiar with the way that giving a ‘soft’ penalty can change the mood of a game, and subsequently the game itself. I think it’s quite right to say that football doesn’t want, nor does it expect, the same bar to be applied to penalties as fouls everywhere else on the pitch.

    St Johnstone v Rangers

Surely ideally you’d want the AR to be stepping in, VAR or not, just to avoid the whole process of having to stop the game and go to the screen for the review. I can obviously see why it would be easier to hesitate if at all unsure though.

    Sheffield Utd Vs Brighton

I don’t know if anyone has seen Ahmedhodzic’s interview after the game where he said that he didn’t think it should be a red card. He clearly wasn’t in possession of all the information and hadn’t seen a replay, but with all the media training these guys are given nowadays you’d think they’d be...

    Sheffield Utd Vs Brighton

So would you suggest that if there hadn’t been VAR that challenge would have justifiably resulted in a yellow card? I’ve not rewatched the incident but by the sounds of it maybe his position should have been better?

    Sheffield Utd Vs Brighton

I do find it slightly concerning that at least one of the officials hadn’t registered Holgate’s tackle as SFP. Though I suppose that is what VAR is there for at the end of the day. I just get the sense that some officials are erring on the side of caution to allow VAR to then step in, which...

    penalty incident

Surely the best way to go about it would be just to sell the red as SFP, which you could probably just about justify. It does ‘feel like’ it should be a red, but strict application of the law makes it a yellow, and I think he has reached the correct decision.

    2nd Observed(coaching) match

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit but I’ve just woken up to incredibly thick fog. Anyone got any advice for the pitch inspection? And then actually refereeing the match if it lifts a bit?

    Rangers v Aberdeen VAR intervention

I remember Michael Salisbury doing it once but I don’t thing Webb has started his TV show thing at that point.

"Blue cards to be introduced for football sin-bins"

Bit of a u-turn then surely to introduce them now without having trialed on a smaller scale? The article is locked behind a paywall after the first few sentences so I didn’t catch that.

"Blue cards to be introduced for football sin-bins"

First of all, if we’re going down the route of sin-bins, I’m a massive advocate of having a different coloured card. Using the yellow can cause communication mishaps in a sport which is not accustomed to the rule. I believe they’ve used the blue card in Wales (please correct me if I’m wrong)...

Choosing FA County, need advice! Referee from abroad starting at level 5

I see you didn’t get much luck with this post on Reddit… Honestly it doesn’t matter really in terms of the County FA, they all perform the same function. In terms of places to live, York is an amazing city, although I can see it probably being a slightly more expensive place to live.

    RefSix

Recently had an issue in which it’s still considering some games as “live” even when they’ve been uploaded to the phone. I don’t know if this is a known thing? Does it fail to upload if not on wifi or something?

    Port Vale v Portsmouth

I think the point being made is that the club has the right to prevent anyone from coming in at any time because it’s private property. As an example, say you were to know someone with a restraining order against you for one year - for that year they are legally obliged to not come within a...
