I think Padfoot skims it but from the wrong angle. I think LWR will occur but not because of why Padfoot says. I think that for the first season we will see several interpretations of each law, and obviously hence so several wrong interpretations. This will lead to "But ref, last week the ref...

    Appointments!

My county run the same rule for 7-6 and 6-5 but in regards to the promotion exams which aren't done until July/August. Makes sense on not assessing before the exams are passed but I do think it would be advantageous to maybe run the exams earlier and assess during March-May.

    Adidas kit

Did you never have anyone comment on the purple trim considering the regulations in England are to have a black and white kit only?

    turning down games

A league can't enforce anything. All leagues at that level have equal status in the FA order of precedence. If a supply league comes in however, they have priority including over county cups. I do agree though, best to try and keep them all happy. Try and make specific days only available to...

Not all leagues operate this practice either.

    2016-17

My issue is with those rogue referees that are currently still applying the laws from 25 years ago. This is going to go down a treat. Don't get me wrong, those that can't progress should not hold us back, but the term 'last week's ref' is going to become a phrase used everyday when this comes...

    1-2-3 Gone

That was pretty much by match on Tuesday after an assistant dropped out at the last minute. 1. Text to confirm new assistant. 2. Text to the new assistant to confirm details. 3. Text to the new assistant to confirm the match is off. All happened on the Tuesday.

    Cochlear Implants

If we're going to these lengths, I think the brains of some players could be considered offensive weapons!

    Have I messed up

Which I agree with. Admittedly I have never used it, but I have seen a local Level 4 use it once and it helped him a ridiculous amount.

Yeah that one was great, he doesn't even attempt to hide it, he just freezes.

    Have I messed up

@Padfoot do you seriously believe it would ever get to the point where you're abandoning the game due to not receiving a name? Like I said, he knows you're cautioning him when you ask for his name, not when you show the card. Quite recently, I had a player refuse to give me his name and it was...

Just for clarification though, would you be happy to see it used if it benefitted the match and had no adverse affect?

    First assessment in the bag...

The competencies are listed here: https://www.armyfa.com/~/media/CountySites/armyfa/documents/referees/fa-assessors-handbook.ashx Standard Expected is a good mark for a game where you felt you had done poorly, especially if you rectify your mistakes and improve. Remember, assessments are not...

    Have I messed up

The player knows you're going to issue a card the second you ask his name, not when you show the card. You're not asking for his name to add him on Facebook. It's an effective technique, hence why a lot of assessors at supply league and above are perfectly happy for officials to use it.

What league is it you referee on?
  17. Y

    Have I messed up

This is quite league dependent, which is probably why assessors want a ceremonial caution/dismissal at our level. On my league we have team sheets, as most should, but they are also strict to the fact that team sheet numbers must match that of the players. You can either write down the full...

    Have I messed up

To me it sounds like it hit dissent levels quite fast. A quick caution is discouraged my a lot of assessors at our level, however in a situation like this it's a brilliant tool that I've seen used very effectively. The player charges up to you and the second begins his dissent you draw a quick...

    Have I messed up

To me, by word, it sounds more like dissent. However, there is the action element to this that may mean you found it abusive. If it was something he said and you wasn't sure whether it was dissent or OFFINABUS then that would be clear cut, but given the fact there's a manorism involved that you...

    Have I messed up

To an extent yes. A lot of officials use the assumed opinion element of OFFINABUS to downgrade it to dissent. I've heard officials get called a c**t and say that they didn't find it offensive and so cautioned for dissent. Whether or not you find something offensive, there are certain things...
