Haha thanks mate. The feedback was what I was looking forward to the most, so I had tangible areas I could improve on where required, to better myself. It hasn’t quite worked out that way. A verbal dev point week 1 was to get closer to play. Week 2 he told me I was too close to play....you’ve...

He’s retired. I was marked as below for AOL, at standard for match control and above for positioning and movement. That was the thing kes, the fouled player still had enough balance to turn to me with his arms open wide- complaining, DURING the attack 😂. He was the only one bothered about it...

Unfortunately not...’below standard’ which I still can’t get my head around. I know I had a good game (it wasn’t particularly challenging although it was competitive), both teams full of praise afterwards and the written report itself reflecting that, besides this one point. Seeing the overall...

Thanks James. The answer is still no and I was still trying to sell it to my observer post-report, to no avail! He felt it was reckless because a degree of force was used. I disagree but we were at different angles, so he’s obviously seen it differently to me. Unfortunately he marked me down...

Thanks one. I’d say it was cynical but the ball wasn’t far away enough for it to be judged as a ‘no chance of getting it’. After it had happened and I played the advantage the first thing that popped into my head was the law in my original post. And thought I was completely correct in applying...

Thanks justy, 100% right on the latter, I should’ve atleast had a word to satisfy (to a degree) the ‘fouled’ players questioning of the lack of punishment. I explained the law and he accepted it in fairness.

I seen it as an attempt to SPA.

    Double Header Appointment.

Yes, tail end of last season. Cramp was kicking in about 10 minutes into game two but I managed to get by without being out of position on too many occasions. I think I got lucky! I often bump into refs who are on their way to their second match, doesn’t seem uncommon in my area.

Evening all, Just thought I’d canvass opinion on the following scenario: •Blue team breaks away in a counter attack 3v2. •Red player attempts a sliding trip on halfway line (not reckless), on yellow player in possessionwhich causes him to stumble slightly, but remains on his feet and in...

    Bobby Madley is back

If he refused to buy that person a drink within a round on the basis they were disabled, then he’s being discriminatory. If he’s made a comment about their disability, apparently in jest, then that’s offensive. It could only be discriminatory if he only made comments about disabled people...

Ok. You keep quoting discrimination...which has absolutely nothing to do with any of this really. BM wasn’t discriminatory. He made a comment which could’ve been considered to be offensive. Unless you’re suggesting he only makes jokes about disabled people, exclusively? My argument is unless...

Yes, I’m aware of that one. I’m not trivialising discrimination as that’s more black and white. Having an opinion which differs to those who say there’s 1588 genders, isn’t discrimination. Apparently it’s offensive and worthy of police time but certainly not on my radar it isn’t! Thankfully a...

Perhaps I should clarify my stance. I’m not suggesting all offensive comments are the same...as I’ve mentioned earlier in the thread, there’s a line. I appreciate this will differ from person to person but common sense should prevail. Unfortunately the type of people who try to ruin other...

It usually happens when certain planets are aligned! Well, I don’t think so but someone else who isn’t a scouser, might be offended on behalf of scousers, in the event there’s a scouser out there who could be offended. Stock up on PPI just incase 👍🏻

As a referee I don’t apply ‘real life’ standards on the pitch, for the reasons you’ve highlighted. You’ve got to be whiter than white in that position IMO. An example from my match on Saturday, where I warned a player for essentially gloating as he put a ball through a defenders legs. “It’s only...

ANYONE could be offended by ANYTHING. That’s my point. If it’s minor, let them be offended, it’s no big deal is it? Unless someone has crossed the line by being racist, or abusive etc. they shouldn’t be severely reprimanded for a comment somebody may find offensive.

You can be discriminatory about any number of things. It seems absolutely anything can be offensive these days. My whiteness and the apparent privilege that comes with it, seems to be offensive to a growing number of ‘wokes’ these days. Clear racism, but again it’s practically accepted- which is...

    Second Half of Games

I’ve been guilty of this after games where I’ve been given praise/good feedback from players afterwards. I’ve noticed I don’t seem to start the next game as well. Could be co-incidence or could be complacency. As nice (and as rare) as the good comments are, I’ve learned not to dwell on them too...

As I mentioned I’ve also been on the receiving end purely because of where I come from, much like yourself. If someone crossed the line where the joke isn’t really a joke but abuse dressed as such, then it’s different. In the context of the Madley incident I don’t think it falls into any of...

Would you report someone or expect anyone else to do so, for telling an Englishman-Scotsman-Irishman joke, Brian? Jokes on nationality are common place, nobody seems to pay a blind bit of notice of the fact it’s a criminal offence.
