Advantage for red card (IDFK if offender gets involved in play) that sounds very messy

    2016-17

First change noted on p111, artificial and natural surfaces may not be combined on the field. I stand to be corrected but the Spurs pitch is a grass pitch sown onto an artificial pitch (something like a third of the blades are plastic. I think that's true of lots of pro team pitches. Ignore...

    turning down games

Generally not the best idea to p*ss off fixtures secretaries. Best is to allocate specific Saturdays (or whenever) to specific leagues and close the rest. Then open them up if you want a game. Assuming I get promoted to Level 4, I've got to find out if I need to close Mon-Friday morning and...

Quick hello and some needed advice

I have half a feeling that you're not registered with a county until you complete your training. Ian, I started at 35, I'm 40 now and just waiting to here from the FA if I'll be invited to become a Level 4. Next season I could be running the line on the Ryman league, last season I ran the line...

    West Ham v Arsenal

I suspect it was conceding 3 goals at home that might be more related to dropping points.

    Needs to be said

I like to precede a gross generalisation with the word "some". I've had plenty of OA matches where it has been an absolute pleasure to referee, I've had some tough ones (during a game last month one of the 75 supporters shouted out I was dog ****) but I've only ever had one which made me...

    West Ham v Arsenal

Reading through I was waiting to see when the OP revealed themselves as a West Ham fane, then BLAM there it is. TV replays showing the precise moment the ball leave the attackers foot and the position of the players for the offside decision are completely pointless. If the TV replay had rolled...

Assessor says not to use verbal warnings for fouls?

I talk to some players throughout the game, often I tell them that they are just the right side with their challenge, but if they go in that strongly and catch the man it'll be a straight yellow. Some are grateful they are being told the boundaries some start arguing.
