I've only just come back to refereeing after a long break and I am on here to pick up knowledge on refeeeing as a whole and specific law changes in that time.
And while I've commented in other threads about the shortage of refs, let alone players(my own local league folded a few seasons back and...
Because there are so few people willing to be referees, even stand in ones,in many areas of the country. Many parents wont even dream of doing it no matter how young the players.
In my earlier comments whereas RustyRef thought I was speaking in terms of 'receiving' the ball, which is one form of gaining an advantage,I also meant the other forms such as challenging a defender and therefore gaining an advantage or benefitting from a deflection from a fellow forward etc.
In...
I think this quite excessive given the clubs have to pay it from the kid's subs.It would destroy teams in my area, which has already happened in a lot of cases anyway around here.
I understand the offside law and I have watched for 50 years and played and reffed for a good chunk of that too,but I am just not grasping this concept in words as it sounds like no change from beforehand. I could also do without the condescending tone too please.
Are you a young referee or do you look pretty young? This seems to set the players and coaches off because they think they can intimidate you but stand your ground and don't have it.
Then a poor PK decision from me was detached from play and didn’t have an angle thought he’d taken the man then...
Yes,but that is not what I said. I think I am confused here by this interpretation of the law. If a player is beyond the second last defender but doesnt receive or touch the ball then he is not offside yet, correct? But if he retreats into his own half to receive it where he isnt offside then he...
Retreating into your own half should make it reset again, imo. Receiving the ball in your own half is not benefitting from being in an offside position as being in your own half should negate it. If its not an offence to stand in an offside position then no harm is done if you retreat there to...
Thanks mate. I usually wear adidas generally so I suspected a smaller fit. May go xxl because I am quite broad shouldered too. I prefer baggier clothes in general.
I dont have legitimate assistants at grassroots so I only ask the flag holders to do throw ins for me,not corners. I tend to stand on the side of the pitch that the corner is being taken around the corner of the area looking across. The players I ref are barely able to cross it,never mind...
When I had Local League Cup finals appointments as both a ref and an assistant there weren't even such things as '4th officials.' It's beaurocracy gone mad,I tells ya.'
Not all contact is necessarily a foul. Although a push is I suppose if the GK thought they were being impeded from releasing the ball they might try and 'move'the attacker out of the way. With Junior football too it's often about context and age group too. What age group was it?
