Delaying giving name at a caution

I thought the same - Ref Sec stopping you asking for team sheets, and the League dealing with misconduct reports, not the CFA?!

    Relieving neutral assistant of duties

Not always the most experienced;) However, I agree, in terms of either fourth official or a member of the crowd. However, if this is an amateur game (i.e. not much of a crowd/no officials present), then whichever team would've been defending in his half in the second half, I would've asked...

    I keep forgetting ...

Or, as you blow and make your way over there, shout to the player "Yes please", and his number if you can see it etc. Bring him to one side, then look at the injured player. In other words, isolate the defender, keep him near you, and then aid the attacker. Obviously, you can do this quite...

Hi Callum. If you send me a message with what league(s) you're looking at, I'll send you my answer, because I was in your position a few seasons back:)

    Careless or Reckless

If you look in the back of the LOTG, the interpretations are there, and lifted from there: “Careless” means that the player has shown a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or that he acted without precaution. No further disciplinary sanction is needed if a foul is judged...

    I like it when players.......

When a teammate agrees on a decision you've made when his mate is having a go at you, always nice to say 'look, even your own team agree!'! When a player thanks you after the game / compliments you for something you've done. Any recognition really, we get that used to players having a go at us!!!:D

    Getting the ball

I agree, I would't have given a free kick for this, I was just making the point that you could give a free kick for a number of reasons. But the player is playing in a dangerous manner by jumping in with 2 feet?? Then you can. Also, as I said, you could give a free kick for a number of reasons.

    Getting the ball

I disagree. If needs be, you can give an IDFK for playing in a dangerous manner, which the player was, and so the player doesn't have to be in playing distance at all. You could also give an IDFK for, and I quote the LOTG, " commits any other offence, not previously mentioned in Law 12, for...

    Getting the ball

2 points that jump to mind here are: Did he endanger the safety of his opponent? Did he use excessive force? Both can lead to red cards, but if you answer both these questions then I believe you can answer your question. Did he use excessive force? Yes. But, like said above, proximity is the...

This Evening I Will Become One Of You

Don't start and stop your watch for every stoppage, only things like injuries and substitutions, and excessive goal celebrations. Can end up playing 50 mins for a 30 min half if you do that!! I agree with what's been said, RA's are great places to go. Also, look confident and get in the right...

    Living from refereeing

    Manchester league, £27 middle + 30p/mile, £20 line + 30p/mile. Youth Leauges, the one I do is just outside of Manchester, and U11&12=£17, U13-16 = £20, U17&18 = £25. Academy games range from £25-30

    Red or Pen ?

His point is that the advantage is the penalty, because you've played advantage, and then given a penalty, meaning they have a penalty instead of a free kick? That is how I read it anyway. I think to cover yourself from any issues, I would give the DFK and DOGSO, that way no one can argue. And...

    Howard Webb retires

The best referee I know, still now. A shame he has retired but will be a great addition to referees in the PGMOL and also referees further down the ladder too

My first three games as a level 4

But maybe that game doesn't need 100% of his fitness because of the level, not he doesn't want to put 100% in, he just doesn't need to, if that makes sense?
