Fair enough. Here's a snippy though. Pretty sure that was going in. To be honest I'm not aggrieved at the decision at all just want to make sure I'm calling these right if it happens to me.
Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the DOGSO handball the Kiwi gave away for the penalty at the 2 minute 10 second mark been a red?
This was a friendly. (As an aside this was to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our first international.)
Funny you say that about it not being a conversation. I say before the match to both teams 'I'll try and explain my decisions on the run if I have time, and I want to, but we're not getting into a conversation'.
I've thought about doing this on more than one occasion but what if Mr Smartypants took you up on the offer? Things would get awkward then. You either let him take control and you're humiliated or you say you can't anyway and you are humiliated. Neither option is great.
I've said in the past...
I've had defenders shout at me before that they want to set up a wall. Happens quite often actually. I just say it's not up to you.
Usually that's followed by 'you have to'. Hahahaha. Nope.
I often take throw ins 4 or 5 metres behind the line. Usually the opposition is waiting for you to get back to the line and not paying attention. A great chance to throw it in (over where it went out) to one of your own players and catch them off guard.
I wouldn't call a foul throw on them but I definitely pull them up before they take it if they're taking it miles from the wrong spot. Even if it's back towards their own goal line. You only have to ping them once or twice and then it doesn't happen for the rest of the game.
With p#sstaking GKs...
No way should any kick outside the box be by default 'ceremonial'. Just think about this for a minute. Not only has the attacking side been fouled against and they have lost their advantage now we are letting the GK get in position, set up a wall, get all his defenders back in place (possibly...
Geez if the shirt that's harsh though. Shirt was up for what, all of a quarter of a second?
Also... Hahaha. Nothing like a back slam after a celebration.
Going to disagree with you there. Striker could have easily cleared the keeper but decides to drag his foot to initiate contact like they do in nearly every game when they can see the GK is going to beat them to the ball. Stupid from him and gave the ref all the ammo he needed to chalk it off...
It's all good. They're all over it. We have an online form to fill out following the match and there's no place to put a second red. So just filled out the form as a DOGSO red and then in the 'behaviour after send-off' wrote down what he said. He'll likely get 6-7 weeks.
Reviving this thread after finding it using the search function. Will probably set myself up for all sorts of ridicule but here goes.
Basically an exact rerun of the OP. Happened to me last week.
Player handballs on the line in a DOGSO situation. Arms up and away from body. Certain goal...
100% shaky. I guess what I meant is this current, until the recent advice, interpretation where players were being played on by the ball touching their shoelaces of an intermediate defender.
