If he needs to be dismissed, he needs to be dismissed and the match needs to be abandoned. If he doesn't need to be dismissed, however acts in a way which verges on irresponsible behaviour within the technical area, then he needs to be told in no uncertain terms that a continuation of that...
Yeah, I think that's the difference between a great official and a good one: the great official sees problems before they happen and avoids them to the best of his ability.
So what's stopping you? I've only heard one person here mention that because there was no appeal for the pen, it shouldn't be given and I think he's dead wrong. This was a pen. Your match control will only suffer when you call it if you can't sell the call -- which you can if you try.
These might be my favourite. I had one assessor who gave me the gears after the match and I felt like complete ****e. Later on at dinner (we were at a national tournament and all ate together every night), he put his arm around me and talked to me about how I could improve and told me he wanted...
Seems a pretty straight-forward penalty to me. Just because the ball is already gone doesn't mean it's not a foul (unless the ball has already gone over the goal line which was not the case here).
1) Fitness, fitness, fitness -- I find that while we do get a reasonable amount of advice given on match situations etc, we are often left to our own devices for training. If you're like me (and I don't think I'm too odd), then you find it hard to train just on your own. I love having a group of...
Match was 0-0 when I had to order a penalty be retaken on a save. Keeper came off his line well early. They scored the second go. Match finished 5-0. I was not the most popular with the home team.
If it's a foul, then it's a foul. If it isn't, then it isn't. But it does not change based on pitch location -- if it's in the PA or in midfield in a nothing area, you either give it or don't. If it's soft, maybe you're giving away too many softies in midfield too but players don't moan too much...
The goal was scored so a quick chat would be fine here. "Do it again, we'll have problems."
Had the ball not gone in, it's a retake and a caution for USB.
I agree with the Cap'n and B'stard here. The context, the manner in which it is said and the frequency with which it is said all have to come into play. If a player responds quickly and one time after a decision is made with a "F*ck off" he'll get a sharp warning from me and if it happens again...
I usually just tell the player who made the most of it to get up and stop making a meal of it quite loudly. Usually it involves "You got fouled, I saw it, you don't need to make such a show of it." That way everyone knows I wasn't fooled by his theatrics.
