Can you send a player off after the final whistle...

when everyone has left the pitch? What if, you send players off who have left the FOP after the final whistle but some players still haven't left the FOP (you had to leave the pitch to sort out the incident)

    Dangerous play against team mate

I'm sure this came up at a ref society meeting and the consensus was an IDFK. I questioned this and the majority said it is still an IDFK.

Junior/Youth But she won the ball first....

Compared to some other refs on here today I think I got an easy game by comparison. Top of the table clash, end to end game, played at very fast pace at this level with few players taking a touch. Add to the fact it is a local derby, lots of parents screaming for pretty much the whole game and...

Open Age Checking for jewelry, shin pads etc.

Karl, I do all those bar studs. I look at the boots when I check for shin pads but never check stud unless the boot looks odd (ie not like a normal football boot). I was just amazed that 2 relatively experienced, but youngish refs did none of those.

Open Age Checking for jewelry, shin pads etc.

I have assisted a couple of times recently where the league prefer/require qualified refs as assistants even though they are supplied by the clubs, and on both occasions have arrived before the referee - pertinent so as to make it clear I didn't miss anything. On both occasions the referees...

    Ladies Abusive language

The worst thing about the swearing was that it was loud. It didn't matter where you were it could be heard. The match was on a private sports ground but either way constant. (she didn't have a great game, lol)

    Six Second Rule .....Myth ?

I thought this law had been rescinded until I became a ref 2 years ago. The guidance we were given during the course was to allow 10 seconds because, generally, it takes the keeper a few seconds to get the ball under control (ie make a save, stand up, compose themselves)..only then should we...

    Ladies Abusive language

Was watching a Ladies open age game recently. The away team were giving the ref a bit of a hard time, two or three players constantly claiming throw ins etc when it was clear they kicked it off etc. After four or five shouts at from the manger, an hour into the game he shouts "You're having an...

    Clueless CARS

I say something very similar along these lines and add something similar when I talk to the players before the match..I tell them to ignore the flags and play to the whistle. You even tend to get support from the manager if you say this up front. As ever , the key is communication before the...

    Biggest clanger you've dropped?

I've made a few "errors" though I try to convince myself I was right afterwards so it doesn't haunt me. The most embarrassing was doing the coin toss and then forgetting what I was supposed to offer the team that won the toss....needless to say I got it wrong, and when the captain queried it I...

    Common Lines

I ref in South London/Surrey but did a game in Wales over the weekend. I can say there is no geographical bias...always "How long to go Ref?". The Welsh get the record though - I was asked after 15 minutes of the first half in a 40 minute each half game, lol.

    Offside or not offside?

Blues are attacking and blue midfielder plays the ball over the top to his tall centre forward, who is in an onside position. The Blues small centre forward is 5 yards away (to the side) from the onside, tall centre forward but the small CF is in an OFFSIDE position. The tall centre forward...

Keeper Off His Line At Penalties

So because no one enforced the law from Day 1 it is no longer enforceable unless you want to give yourselves trouble? No wonder we are accused of inconsistency and not applying the laws correctly.

    Europa League

Sorry, what I meant is that if he is unable to take a kkick odes that team benefir form having their players take a second penalty before the other team with a man extra, should it go to more than 10 penalties?

    Europa League

So what happens if a player gets injured during the penalty shoot out?

    Europa League

My understanding would be that one team would have 11 penalty takers and the other would have 10. If the penalties went as far as the 11th penalty then the team with 10 would arguable havean advantage as their 11th penalty would be taken by their best taker (his second penalty) whereas the team...

    A coming together or contact

And just because there is no contact doesn't mean it isn't a foul.
