    Ball Stationary at Goal Kick

Needs to get himself on refchat then ;)

    offside?

I believe so...without referring to the LOTG I think that would be the logical way for it to work.

    0-0 draws

Can't ever remember playing in a 0-0 over 5 seasons of Sunday morning football. Even clean sheets were as rare as hen's teeth, though we never tended to concede more than 1 or 2, we would just always concede.

    Getting a round of applause

To be honest I would have found a way to miss that as well ;) I once got played outfield as we were massively struggling for players and I was lumped up front. Missed two golden chances, from then on I was consigned to the left wing. Honestly, if the ball is moving, i'm knackered! I can take a...

    Getting a round of applause

My absolute lack of ball control & skill meant that I was a 'keeper when I used to play. Reasonable reactions though and I'm pretty tall so I was half decent (for Sunday league level at least). I've been stood in the middle with the ball waiting for teams to come back for the 2nd half a few...

    Exam Tonight

Best of luck. Waiting to hear my date from West Riding as well, although now I've done the 6 games (rightly or wrongly) just say I'm level 7 anyway.

    Ball Stationary at Goal Kick

Every day's a learning day here at refchat :D

    Ball Stationary at Goal Kick

Interesting! I always assumed that it had to be stationary. I've seen referees pull it back a few times when a 'keeper has tried to take a quick one, probably where I've made the assumption.

    First line

Doing my first line this Sunday, league cup semi final, not the most glamorous of appointments but I'm excited all the same. Don't want to turn this into a thread that has been seen umpteen times before here, I've had a flick through some of the other 'first assistant' threads and I think I'm...

    Penalty claim: Newcastle v Southampton

Bobby not giving this penalty won me £101.50 as I had Southampton on to win. IT WAS NEVER A PENALTY! ;)

Junior/Youth "Ref this pitch is too big, my players are getting out of breath"

Yeah I agree, the timing of the coach's complaint makes it look a bit like sour grapes, especially if his team is losing!

Junior/Youth "Ref this pitch is too big, my players are getting out of breath"

There is definitely a safeguarding issue here, irregardless of the size of the pitch and whatever the league or the LOTG says. If the pitch is indeed way too big then hopefully it can be managed by roll on/roll off subs at that age, although we have to remember that we are dealing with...

    Referee assaulted in West Riding

Quite possible I expect, though with the WholeGame system I would ihope it would be difficult for him to register under that name with his specific date of birth and so on. Hopefully that would flag something up, especially in West Riding. Doesn't stop him using false details though.

    Referee assaulted in West Riding

UPDATE: Apologies for thread from the dead, sorry admins, but I've just discovered that the player who assaulted our colleague in this instance has received a 10 year ban from ALL football. Excellent news as West Riding CFA sets the standard for supporting us.

    Open Age Boring Matches

I've learnt the hard way that 'boring' games, especially one-sided ones, can turn at the drop of a hat. My second open age game, not applying enough common sense in my decisions, thinking I was right on top of it all and the entire thing just erupted off one card (correct by the LOTG but silly...

"I've never seen a ref do that before"

I turned up at my open age game on Sunday, and four different players were shocked that I was 'young' (I'm 27 ;)). First time reffing those particular teams but not my first time in that league.

    Penalty or Free Kick?

Clear pen the first time i saw it from that angle. Difficult from behind the play though i imagine

    Return of the snood

I used to wear one when I played as a 'keeper in the winter, especially if it was raining or snowing. Mainly because most of the other teams in the league were awful and I spent quite a lot of time jumping up and down on the edge of the penalty area trying to keep warm.
