So an Africa Cup of Nations referee has been banned for six months for "poor performance". (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31125655)
Agree with the ban or think its too harsh?
I personally think the ban is excessive. A player doesn't get 6 months for violent conduct but an official...
Well for whatever reason I've been given an U14 quarter final county cup game this week. Probably due to convenience of location although my ego would like to believe that they've been massively impressed with my 10 games to date!
How are cup games different to league? Are they harder to manage...
At my module 5 last week they said we should position ourselves around the goal area for free kicks and corners. I did it in my game on Sunday and it takes off a lot of the pressure of relying on CAR's who may be biased.
Agree the positioning change is much better!
Presents from yourself are always the best though aren't they? It's like I always know what I want!
Going to get a lanyard and see if I find it useful.
One of my CAR's was offered a flag but preferred to use a bib. Flagged lots but would not sustain the signal meaning I missed half of them.
The other CAR didn't signal for offside correctly. I had to pull back play about 45 seconds and ask him in future to raise flag above his head until I've...
I think it would be a yellow from me although would likely have let that slide given the time and score. Although I understand that an 11 year old saying 'crap' is the extreme at that age so can sort of see why you could justify a red.
In my U11 today the ball hadn't fully gone off, the CAR...
Regarding straight reds, if a player has been cautioned and then commits a red card offence do you give him a straight red or a second yellow? How do you report it?
Have a stop watch in my pocket and a wrist watch counting down.
If asked I loudly shout "I am the sole arbitrator of time. We'll play however long I want to play." I then look up at the sky to reflect on the power of my words.
*the above may or may not be true and I may or may not actually...
Did my module 5 last night. We he did an hour or so on what to consider with challenges and then an hour or so on our problems so far.
It was definitely useful. I will try one of their suggestions this week which is to stand close to the goal area for corners and free kicks so you can see if the...
Who said anything about a ref shirt? ;)
I think the biggest talking point of the game has to be Gerrard putting his hand round Costas neck. Completely unacceptable...
Seen the second one again and without slow-mo it doesnt look like a stamp to me although I don't know why he...
I'm a Chelsea fan haha.
Slow-mo always makes things look worse in my opinion.
Having said that the first one seemed deliberate, second one not completely sure on - would have to watch in real time.
Similar sort of question so i'll put it here:
I was watching a local game today and a number of times a player would shout "its a con" in reference to the ref. Now, in my mind this is an equivalent to calling the ref a "cheat" so should the player be sent off? What alternatives do players use...
I had a similar situation to the offside one last week.
Player on the ball was tripped but i initially tried to give advantage as a team-mate of his was nearest but the fouled player put his hand on the ball to put it in place for the free kick so I gave the free kick.
I never know what to do when warming up. I know it sounds stupid but I always feel like an idiot running about on my own when people are watching.
I tend to run between the goal and usually a nearby tree several times and then do some stretches.
What do you do?
Presumably you did an obligatory bow to all 4 sides of the pitch?
In my first game I dodged the ball whilst spinning and it went through my legs. No one else noticed but it was 100% the best piece of skill in that game!
