Managers/Coaches asking not to put cards through

I’ve had it a fair bit recently, often with the ‘it’s a cost of living crisis mate, you should be embarrassed putting them through’. Managers will always try anything to get their players off, just a quick ‘I’ve got no choice but to put them through’ and move on seems to do it

    Strange Incident

Nothing explicitly in law about this but I’d be tempted to caution for USB? Spirit of the game and all that…

    Stuff of nightmares

I think it hits the advertising boards at the back because the net then bulges inwards as if the ball has come back in from there? God that’s so hard to call

    Ignoring request to start game

One tip I’ve used is just checking with each manager ‘good to go in 15 minutes or so’? Forces them to have a quick look at their watch and stick to timings.

If the ball touches the ground before entering, the throw-in is retaken by the same team from the same position.

But if you’re throwing it from, let’s say, 10m away, then although you are outside the touch line, you cannot by very definition have thrown the ball *from the point* where it left the field of play, because the ball cannot leave the field of play 10m away from the touch line.

    I hate the rain

I’m the same in the north west if it’s any consolation - had a few called off already and had a few weeks out after surgery but slowly getting there. Game by game we’ll get to that 25!

If the ball touches the ground before entering, the throw-in is retaken by the same team from the same position.

At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must: stand facing the field of play have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline throw the ball with both hands from behind and over the head from the point where it left the field of play

    City Seagulls

Nope, they didn’t show him the foul. Was reviewed by VAR but determined to be no foul, Pawson wasn’t asked over to the monitor

    City Seagulls

As a blue: The more I see the Haaland goal, the more I think the contact with the defender is a foul. Starts off going for shoulder but defender turns and it goes into his back. It’s a shame because his control to bring the ball down is phenomenal, but I think it’s a foul. Clear and obvious...

    Does offsides reset ever touch?

Correct, answered your own question. It’s when the ball is played. The deflection / deliberate play would only come into it to determine if there was an offside infringement when the ball was originally played.

To wall or not to wall... That is the question!!

I have this more often than I care to remember. It’s one of those that I think comes down to game management more than anything. If you can see the wall isn’t quite finished yet or the keeper is still leaning on the post setting the wall and isn’t in position, we all KNOW that you can blow for...

If the ball touches the ground before entering, the throw-in is retaken by the same team from the same position.

As in the ball is thrown from behind the sideline and touches the ground behind the sideline. The ball never enters the field of play in that example

    Players holding hands at corners

    Surely it’s textbook unsporting behaviour?

    Match fee for friendlies

Up to you really! There’s no set fee - depends what you want the friendlies for. I’m not particularly bothered about the match fee as I use them as an opportunity to get match fit and sharp before the season, but you’re more than entitled not to do them! Just try and remain respectful though...

    TD

I’d imagine not as they can’t rejoin the game at two TDs. If there are subs available, they could be substituted though?

    WHU vs NFO

Perhaps I’m missing something but for me, Antonio collides with the defender, you can see him move his feet to try and get out of the way and his hands are raised to soften the blow when he realises he can’t get out of the way. Defender is off balance and way weaker so goes flying. I can see the...

My game today - takeaway points

Sounds like you’ve come to the right conclusions! If I’m not sure at a goal kick / corner, I often take a few seconds to have a look at what the majority of players are doing. If they’re all moving into the box but I think I’ve seen a goal kick, I’ve got to be pretty damn sure. The whistle one...

    Chelsea Spurs Lo Celso

Absolutely madness, how can that not be a red? Struggling to see an argument

    Red or yellow?

Is there a (technical) argument that the keeper could quite easily make a fair tackle there - if so, no obvious goalscoring opportunity. Can see the argument for yellow but think football expects a red every time here

    Referee Positioning

Coincidentally I used the finger grip for the first time this weekend...I loved it, makes me realise what I was missing out on! Couldn't recommend it enough
