On games like that you can't win as referee though. Last weekend I had to endure 90 minutes of this kind of abuse and this type of game. Yes, I used the cards; both colours, and was lucky to get out of there in one piece. County and league informed. So maybe this referee knew the teams...
A few years ago I remember having to chase up a level 4 ref (now football league line) on a Friday night for a Saturday game. How he made it I have no idea!
If I've had nothing from the home club, the day before the game I ring up the secretary or manager. You can find some contact details on Google these days; it's really that easy. I had to do it in December and the game went ahead with me there.
I did a couple of seasons on junior games then started assisting on supply league games and got the bug for open age. I haven't done junior games except academy U16 and U18 and the occasional county youth cup games for years. Do start with juniors but take a few open age games as soon as you...
Life's hard enough for this kid without jobsworths putting their twopenneth in. I remember playing open age when two 16 year old twins joined the team. One of these had the lower part of one arm missing. When he took throw ins and opponents shouted foul throw, they were told in no uncertain...
Yes and throughout it all, Pep didn't stop talking, he didn't listen to anything they said to him. It was all pointless. They should have just binned him.
I can see why he gave Dunk the first yellow. The attacker was fouled by another defender but Dunk took a swipe too. Seemed a bit harsh but certainly not wrong. I still think Mike Dean's up there with the best of them.
Offside and penalty for me. However, I've watched the "stamp" clip several times and to me it looks like the Arsenal player has grabbed the ball as soon as he's fouled and the Burnley player tries to get the ball off him. The foot contact is only with the ball so not VC for me; nothing at all...
14 seasons refereeing and still not been involved in a 0-0.
Never had one as a player either. Mind you, the only reason I played for the 4th team was because they didn't have a 5th team!!
@HarryD it sounds like you had a busy day at the office. It can be a lonely place out there can't it? We've all been there though. It seems to me you've had a good game and not allowed the players and coaches to run it for you.
I hope you're back out next weekend; don't let one bad day cause...
