    Feedback on two issues/errors

Well maybe that's part of the problem?! Honestly suggesting you make up a phantom decision to even out an incorrect one is shocking and terrible advice.

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

I'm not ignoring the point, maybe not fully understanding it! It appears you're saying DFK and IDFK offences are defined in two places in the LOTG? Is that the point you're making? The way I see it and unless I'm missing a massive section in my handbook, DFK and IDFK are only defined in one...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

yep, that's the mature approach for a healthy debate on points of the law.

    Feedback on two issues/errors

Are you actually suggesting that a referee invents an offence to even out a wrong decision? That’s terrible advice, you can’t make stuff up and even out bad decisions. With the corner / goal kick decision, firstly players reactions can help, but they’re not always right as players tend to see...

    Dangerous Play

What about if the ball is EXACTLY midway between a players foot and head.......

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Sure if you could point out where the LOTG state that offences are different inside than outside the PA that would be great. There are not DFK offences and PK offences, there are DFK offences, which result in a penalty if they happen inside the box

Packing it in for a month

A couple of points from me. First try not to let what is said to you, impact your enjoyment. I know it's really hard, but you have to learn to shrug it off. Players and managers will rage against you unfairly, because they're p*ssed off. I once had a defender, with two hands, push an attacker...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

"other verbal offences" is 3 words "verbally distracts an opponent during play or at a restart" is 10 words Are you saying they'd add all this confusion in, to save 7 words of space? Why would they not just repeat the distracting sentence instead of using a completely different phrase? I think...

    Dangerous Play

surely a red card for red player then, since he headbutted green players foot, therefore being violent conduct?! ;) Based on what has been described, green player didn't kick the ball and kicked the red player in the face, that surely has to be a DFK "kicks or attempts to kick" but agree a...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Now you're definitely making stuff up! LOTG make absolutely no distinction about inside or outside the PA. Referees certainly apply the law differently whether inside or outside, but the LOTG make no such allowance.

    Penalty area foul

I'm not sure I'd ever give a decision on "mostly sure" I might choose to give or not give a decision for an offence I know has happened, depending on where it takes place (inside or outside PA). But we should not be guessing on if something has happened or not. If you're not 100% sure something...

    Advice for a new referee

Unless you have a 4th official, you'll have to do it yourself I'm afraid.

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

But it doesn't say physical contact is an offence, so you're point doesn't really make sense

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

and "other verbal offences" Because by your thinking and interpretation, I either have to ignore someone saying something offensive or give them a red card. Someone uses extreme offensive language to an opposition, red card. Someone uses a mild insult that needs to be stamped out to help...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Then why does 12.2 say "other verbal offences" there is clearly other things that can be said on the football pitch that are not dissent, distracting or offensive, insulting, abusive and so do not warrant a card. Taking the approach you're talking about, EVERYTHING said to the opposition is...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

I think I'm completely correct. LOTG 12.2 clearly states "An indirect free kick is awarded if a player: is guilty of dissent, using offensive, insulting or abusive language and / or gestures or other verbal offences" so that is clear, "other verbal offences" is an IDFK. What you now need to...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Well we were talking about non dissent offences, that's why I didn't mention it. I can think of lots of offences yea where I would not issue a card, once you go with a yellow or go nuclear with a red, you have set a very high bar for yourself in the game and will likely get yourself into massive...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

A yellow card is only for unsporting behaviour, which would be verbally distracting an opponent or lack of respect for the game. Red card for offensive, insulting or abusive language or gestures. You can 100% give a IDFK for other verbal offences not falling in the above and not have to show a...

    Penalty area foul

Isn't this what causes the problem? Well inconsistency is what causes the problem, but I don't see anywhere in the LOTG that talks about a higher tolerance in the penalty area. This comes down to individual associations / leagues and how they ask for the laws to be applied, which in my opinion...

    First game difficulties

This is a really tough one and very much depends on the league you referee in. I'm in Sussex and in general, even the club assistants are mostly fair and you just have to go with the assumption that they are being honest. You can very quickly figure out those that are fair and those that aren't...
