    Advantage in Penalty Area

Yea this is good advice and what I always do. You can't play advantage unless you know an advantage has developed, so you need to wait for a few seconds to see what happens before blowing for a FK or playing the advantage. However in the PA, this would be a very short time and mostly unlikely...

    Feedback on two issues/errors

Haha you’re a tutor but yet seem quite happy insulting and trying to belittle, very odd behaviour that is. Anyway, I’m fairly happy with my stance that giving a phantom foul is a terrible idea and not something I’ll ever be doing. Not sure I’m throwing advice back in people’s faces @RustyRef...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Well I think it’s a good thing to not blindly go off opinion, especially when in plenty of other places and by other members on this forum the advice and opinion dished out is not so hot.

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

I think I said earlier without official clarification, the LOTG in the way they are written, clearly give room for an IDFK with no sanction. With an official (thanks for having contacts in high places to clarify) clarification, all ambiguity over the poorly written laws is removed. So case...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Errr, no....it says offences are punished with an IDFK even IF there is a caution, I read that as further clarification that there can be an IDFK without a caution.

    Incorrect position when taking FK

Personally I think if you're insisting a FK is taking in the exact spot it happened to assert authority over the players, you're going about it wrong. It's not authority you want to command, it's respect. I feel it works better if you're able to gain the respect of the players, by making the...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Well yes, you can interpret anything as showing a lack of respect for the game and award an IDFK and yellow card. But you'd end up booking everyone with that low bar. And anything can be deemed as offensive and so it's red cards all round. Or, as per the way the LOTG are actually written, there...

    Feedback on two issues/errors

I've had plenty of bad games, just said I've only had issues with players in 2 or 3 games. Perhaps that's because I'm happy to communicate with my assistants to get the right decision, rather than guessing at something, getting it wrong and then awarding a phantom foul to rectify the mistake...

    ref shortages

Saturday league seems fine. Sunday has had a few fixtures most weeks without a referee, so it does appear there are shortages this season in that league at least

    Feedback on two issues/errors

Haha that is nonsense. It shows that you’re confident enough to discuss things and get the right decision. On one occasion, corner comes in defender and attacker contest, ball goes out. CAR immediately flags for goal kick, but I think it’s a corner. Go over, CAR missed a second touch off...

    Penalty area foul

That's exactly what post 8 says.....

    Penalty area foul

5 seasons, normally two games a weekend. Can't say these "purist" views have ever been an issue in any of my games, which always seem to go very well, with the exception of maybe two or three in all 5 seasons. I honestly don't see how you can give a decision without being sure? Not saying I'm...

    Feedback on two issues/errors

Absolutely, why would I not? I can't see what is wrong with thinking that fake fouls should be awarded, seems very bizarre to me.

    Feedback on two issues/errors

Well you're assuming they have a better view and the OP clearly shows there is not clarity between them. So absolutely there should be communication to understand why they both have a different point of view rather than assuming one of you is right and then having to make up a phantom decision...

    Feedback on two issues/errors

Not sure I was mislead, I think it was clear what was being said, especially with the doubling down citing Mr Elleray! I completely agree that if you realise you've given a corner in error (although not sure how you would realise that with 100% certainty vs having a doubt?!), blowing for an...

    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

Exactly! If you need all the history of how a law has developed and additional material / support groups etc to correctly interpret what a law "really" means, then it's poorly written. But that is all assumption right? You're all assuming / having the opinion that's what is means, rather than a...

    Feedback on two issues/errors

And so that makes it right?! I appreciate I haven't reffed PL games and am not the standard he was, but doesn't mean making up phantom fouls to even out decisions is right. That frankly is shocking on any level, especially high profile matches and no wonder players have such disdain for referees...

    Dangerous Play

I was making the point about a post that said there is NEVER a time when the ball is not either "head height" or "foot height." I asked about when the ball is EXACTLY half way, so therefore there is a time it is not clear cut. Not that we shouldn't be making the call.

    Feedback on two issues/errors

Completely agree on this. I think far too many referees have the old school Judge Dredd mentality of "I am the law." It was even in my initial training to never ever admit to the players that you had made a mistake, that "the decision you make, is always the right decision" I have found in...

    Interesting article

I found this article very interesting. I didn't see the incident, but praise rightly goes to Coote for how the situation was managed.
