    City v Sheff United

All the talk will be about the opening goal. Not sure if it's hit the referee or he's just got right in the way but surely he would have been better to pull play back here and give the drop to Sheffield United.

    Fulham vs Leeds

Exactly what i was thinking as im watching it, the referee just lets the Leeds players one in particular moan and moan for about 30 seconds. Id still like to see the refs use their spray in incidents like this, give the decision and when players come towards you spray on the line back off five...

    Shakhtar - Atalanta

Two mistakes yes, if the home side had only made two mistakes maybe they would have went through, i wouldn't even insult Sunday league by saying Sunday league defending.

    Dinamo Zagreb v Manchester City

Spot on Santa, the officials can be forgiven for missing it but unbelievable that VAR have viewed it and done nothing.

    What to do different ?

Had another referee turn up who had been double booked so he ran one line for me. Really enjoyed it, you can have good banter with the players which i enjoy which i dont get at 13s and 14s level. Quite an easy game on the whole.

Pushing in the back from high balls

Its not hard to spot everything its impossible. If complain that ive missed a push or a shove i just say there is 16/17 players in the area its impossible to watch it all and that usually works.

    What to do different ?

Cards in a friendly ;) I done a Liverpool v Manchester "friendly" pre season, four yellows and a red later it wasn't so friendly. I think what i learned that day was managers at that level anyway really do want to have their cake and eat it you have to treat "the friendly" as if its my world...

    What to do different ?

Despite being in my 40s ive only been refereeing for about 18 months or so. I normally do Junior football Under 13s upwards and have done 3/4 open age games. Today im doing a friendly (hopefully) game but teams of a far better standard than anything ive previously done, usually this level...

    Merseyside Derby

Dont think there is a penalty for a push, Van Dijk quite clearly stands on Calvert Lewins left foot as he goes to shoot. 100% penalty, i could "possibly" wave away the red as a half genuine attempt to win the ball.

    Merseyside Derby

Not suggesting it should have been over turned, asking if people thought it was a penalty. Not having thats a genuine attempt to play the ball either.

The odd one you cautioned (or not) for dissent

Never kicked a ball in your life ref.

Penalty or not ? For me clear penalty and red card.

Junior/Youth Major incident with parents & coaches

Well done for posting mate. Its really good to hear you're looking at ways you can improve your game. As many have said nothing here is your fault and this incident would most likely have happned if you, me or Mike Dean were in charge. If you felt unsafe at any time then abandon the game, my...

Pick the bones out of this

https://www.yoursportswindon.co.uk/video-fairford-bassett-clash-abandoned-before-the-break/ A really good debate on twitter about this game including the referees views (He will probably get a slap on the wrists for that)

    Have I Missed A Trick?

If he had said what he said on the pitch then hes minimum going in the sin bin possibly depending on referee-mood-atmosphere etc could be a red card. I think if it was me id probably just have ignored first comment and done what you did, giving him a yellow or red card at that stage would have...

    Blades v Man Utd

To be fair thats one image, where does the ball go after that image ? Im not saying its hand ball, i just dont think anyone can be 100% sure it did or didn't hit the arm.

    Coaches not knowing the LOTG

I was guilty of saying "got the ball" in the past. Read on here someone just said say "fair tackle, good tackle", it works, slightest little change but has an impact.

    Coaches not knowing the LOTG

I can 100% agree that certain referees just blag there way through games and this causes them little grief but more for the next referee in charge.
