    Coaches not knowing the LOTG

I get the some decisions can come down to one mans decision and two referees can give a different decision on the same incident thats fine. A lot of laws are factual and not subjective, like showing a yellow card for a sin bin.

    Blades v Man Utd

I think watching live well on TV you're waiting for a whistle for the opening goal (thats not to say its a foul but they're usually given) I dont think anyone can 100% be clear if the goal at the end was hand ball or not.

    Coaches not knowing the LOTG

Same game, a ball played forward and CF must have been 20 yards ahead of play but ball nowhere near him, went opposite direction. "Are we not playing off sides today"

    Coaches not knowing the LOTG

Never surprises me almost every week some of the claims from coaches-managers-spectators during a game but today possibly did. An U14 game a lad is sent to the sin bin, yellow card shown and i pointed towards the side line where coaches gathered. The manager of the team shouts "whats your...

    Making the step into refereeing

Be confident and smile. Body language can a very long way to getting you through any tough times. Physical abuse is a very very rare occurrence, you might referee 300 games and not see one single incident, dont let that put you off. Keep an on here, its a brilliant tool and read the good book...

    Failing to Respect the Distance

Kids football id say 90% of fouls a player will attempt to stand in front of the kicker usually on the instructions of the manager shouting "stand on it, stand on it" I usually just give a "move away 6, listen to me not him"

Sin Bins - are you finding they help?

Thats good t hear, do you think its genuinely "quietened down" then ?

Drop ball. How are your leagues handling it?

Only issue ive got with no assistants in my games if i drop a ball to a player and he sends a long ball 50 yards, how the fcuk am i supposed to judge offside !!

Sin Bins - are you finding they help?

I think they have been a fantastic introduction to junior and youth football. Higher up the spectrum i go and watch my local side in North West Counties so step 5 i think, ive been to 15 or so games this season and have seen the sin bin used once, i dont think refs at this level are using them...

Some talking points from my game on Saturday

I think in first incident the advantage we have spoken on here many of times and its one that both teams will debate over, if you let it go and the player misses they want the free kick, if you pull it back and they shoot and score they want the advantage. The best way to probably sell it is to...

    Accidentally standing on foot

Similar to Brighton getting a penalty when VAR got involved v Everton recently ?

Are you putting that through ref?

Let me just put this scenario to you, i realise plenty on here might not do junior games. You have an U9 game, DOGSO goalkeeper red card, you send the keeper off. Are you putting that through , im playing devils advocate a bit here.

    1st game recap

No matter who you are and what you do you occasionally you will get yourself not in the greatest position for whatever reason. My point being if you let one go that you think is probably just offside and it ends up being the winning goal you'll have that to deal with, if you pull it up for...

    1st game recap

Some good advice above. Only small bit of advice id give and i referee 95% of my games without assistants. If its close give it off side. This way you haven't stopped a goal you've just probably stopped a promising attack and there is a lot of play left before a goal would have been scored...

    Junior/Youth First Match

"If you refuse to do or get somebody to else to do the line the game will not start" That simple for me.

    Manager not paying up.

Id have refused the £26 myself and reported it as a non payment.

    2 Red Cards (Spitting)

You can actually get a small swab kit that will fit into your pocket, on this occasion it might have came in handy.

    Managers fighting

Not a lot you can do, a few blasts on the whistle but certainly dont be putting your hands on anyone. Shocking behaviour at any age group never mind an U7s game

    Reds, v Cityzens

Id love to know who and how they come to the results on that table. Fans of all teams will have their own views but Everton were 2-1 up at Brighton when that penalty was given, if they dont make it 2-2 from the penalty then they maybe dont score an injury time winner either.

    Che vs Ajax

It should never have got to this stage as its 100% a foul on Blind originally. Once thats missed its then a definite second yellow card for Blind for the foul. The penalty is a tough one, he looks like hes trying to get his arm out the way but the flip side is its travelled a fair distance, im...
