    Great news!

I'm at the national finals of the Danone cup this Saturday then a few of us from round here normally go to an academy festival in August. Starting on the West Midlands league as an AR for next season, help me gain more experience and feedback compared to local Sunday junior games which will be good.

    Womens world cup

let's be honest, if someone catches an opponent in the face with a flailing arm anywhere else on the pitch it's a free kick, no different in the PA.... Penalty!

    Trivial but interesting

surely the answer would be a keeper handling the ball legally inside his area?

Fair enough, thanks for clearing it up for me @ASM. Always food to learn from more experienced referees!

    Penalty thoughts?.......

I always believed that once the ball stopped moving forwards (I.e. towards the goal) then the penalty was over. So for this instance once the ball has bounced back off the bar, the penalty is declared missed, please correct me if I'm wrong though

    Fabregas Red

Red card for me, no need to hit the ball from that distance into a group of players, could've easily hit Jones square in the face had it not hit Brunt first. Seems from the videos that Cesc knows exactly what he's doing, asks Hazard (I think) for the ball beforehand! With the assistant a few...

    Tournament moment ....

I had something similar at a local under 10's game @HullRef . A lad asked me if I referee "proper teams" (clearly doesn't rank his own team very highly) to which I just replied "Do Leicester and Burton Albion count?" His face was priceless, what I didn't tell him was that it was Leicester and...

    WSL Development League Game

The standard of football, I found, was fairly decent. I was an assistant for Notts County vs Birmingham back right at the start of the season.

    Referee County Development Program

I know lads that are in a development group at BCFA (I assume it's the same thing you're on about) from what I've heard though, you have to officiate open age football to be part of it. My name got put forward for this season but I haven't stared OA football yet. From what I've heard, there's...

So close to my first penalty shoot out

A penalty shoot out in the cup final before meant mine yesterday kicked off over an hour late!! Suddenly developed a hatred for them!

    "Pass-Back"

Did he deliberately back heel the ball to the keeper? Or did he deliberately back heel the ball and it happened to fall to the keeper? Given my interpretation of the law, both would be met with different outcomes.
