    Greetings from USA

    Hi Michael.

    Goalie idfk clarification please

Please could someone explain this part of law 12? It looks like it is saying that the goalkeeper is allowed to pick up the ball after they have tried to kick it after a back pass or throw in. Is that right? 'touches the ball with the hand/arm, unless the goalkeeper has clearly kicked or...

    Pre match chat with teams

What do you say to the teams before the match? I keep switching my pre match patter and am not sure of the best version yet.

    U14 boys red card

Hang on, I'm confused. Why did the fact defenders were there make a difference to the red card sanction for the keeper's offence? Asking from a position of ignorance rather than passive aggressive

    Fouling own team?

So would you have given a DFK to the opposing team? Punish the offending team, whoever they are offending against - their team or the opponents?

    Fouling own team?

Thank you but I'm going to have to look up some of these acronyms! :)

    Fouling own team?

Thank you for this, Josh. I should say that this was an U13 game.

    Fouling own team?

Hello all. Can you foul a member of your own team? And, a related question, what would be the sanction for a goalie swearing at his own players when he doesn't save a goal? C1 unsporting?

    Careless vs reckless

Yes, I'm hoping I would recognise a red, but I haven't given any cards out so far (only done U12s and below, except for my two U13s this season) but I want to give out a yellow if necessary. But not overreact:yawn:

    Careless vs reckless

Thank you for your response. I do keep reading and rereading the rules and I can quote them in my head, and often quote them to the players, but your extra comments there are very helpful in unpacking how to judge in a particular situation. Would you say with reckless that they are prepared to...

    Careless vs reckless

Hello all. I'm finding this forum very helpful so thank you to those who moderate it. This has possibly been covered before, but as I have my first U16 match this Saturday (having done a grand total of 2 x U13s then all U12s before that), please could you give me some pointers as to how you...

    2 on 1 tackle

That is actually what I thought, and both were tackling cleanly but it did feel wrong.

    2 on 1 tackle

Hello all. Is there a law which covers when two are tackling one player? I let it go today but it felt wrong and I checked with the ref on another game and he said it wasn't allowed. Is it under the careless or reckless tackle rule with a direct free kick? Or is there a specific law which...

    Foul throw

Thank you for all your help. I briefed my U13s today that I didn't expect there to be any foul throws as they were old enough to be able to do the throw ins properly, and I didn't have to call any. Starting a new thread for another issue I had though....
