I didn’t argue - I was there to assist. Yes he was older a former 5 now down to 4 and not bothered by what people think. All good.
I found it harder/weird and I made a few mistakes - that combined with the players who did complain (and surely will every match) I just don’t get it the benefit...
Did a line last night. Great ref in the middle no issues there. Only odd thing is the ref had us assistants run the right back side of the pitch. First time i’ve had that and frankly found it very weird (held the flag in the wrong hand often). Players complained about it at the start of each...
I was cheering for the Morata dissent caution like it was a goal. Clear clear dissent that any of us would be destroyed for not cautioning if we were being observed....and shocker a prem ref actually did it even though it was second yellow. Brilliant.
It happens every week but the "pundits"...
I am so angry reading this post. Others have already given good advice on the incident and how to deal with the manager. If this “manager” went so crazy over a goal incident - an incident we have all had to deal with - can you imagine how he treats his players. This is U8!!!!! I’m honsestly sat...
Looked like *maybe* after the referee gets in the players way the player might have pushed the referee in the back causing him to fall?? The kick out and the emotion - though totally unacceptable might be from the fact he thought the player just ran up behind him and pushed him over.
The ref...
and that was my issue in the stadium - we had no idea what was going on. The person manning the VAR should only initiate a review if it's worth the referee going over to the screen and having a look. this standing around with the finger in the ear is ridiculous. It should be implicit that key...
As some have said the good RefSecs will take care of you...this weekend I was switched off my original assigned match because I drive and someone who doesn't drive was closer to the game I was originally on. It could hurt you accepting last minute assignments and leagues really really value...
I was at the match supporting the good guys in Red. We had absolutely no idea what was going on with VAR. Seemed like VAR was consulted twice?? At least that’s how many times play was stopped for a long time with thousands of people having no idea why. They need to think about the in stadium...
Pub debate above aside - Great idea...I'm in Surrey sometimes Kingston ish. If you drive that could work for you - otherwise you might have to hold out for someone closer.
Wait - OP said he was looking on whole game to tally cards. How do you do that? I have looked before for summary but doesn’t seem to be there. I track on a separate spreadsheet - so far 35 cautions and 4 dismissals from 34 matches. All men OA. Seems low compared to others. Feels like a game is...
I have no idea what it's like to be 6'6. ;)
Course is usually two days. Read the laws of the game and do the pre course work ahead of time. On the day they will usually go through the laws in class room situation and on the field. Offside was outside for me, fouls and misconduct was a video...
What do we think about the recent increase in ceremonial discussions between referee and assistants on TV. We have 2 from Madley (the offside debate with his assistant recently and the Liv/Eve match where he jogged all the way from the left corner to the middle to discuss with Moss) and we have...

Pen yes. Dive - maybe/maybe not. Certainly one of those pro moves to make sure his leg drags but is it a “dive” Yeesh not for a second yellow. You better be 1000% sure before you send someone off for a dive - like Taylor was in the FA cup final on Moses.
I have said before - I’m an arsenal...
Never. So poor from Mike Dean. Seems to maybe even have apologiesed to AW when he went over to him during the match.
This is a case for VAR. If Dean could see the replay he wouldn’t award the pen and it was clearly a KMI and could be the difference between 5th and 4th at the end of the year.
I use those for Sundays when things are simple (colour, score, and some cautions on the back). Not great if you need to manage and record subs in more detail IMO. Pencil does not work on them - I tried. Also you need a certain type of pen - not too inky or it smudges.
