u9 is still mini soccer I think. Different laws. Retreat to half way line, retake foul throws, no offside etc. You can do it as I think random dads do it sometimes but technically mini soccer is a different course.
Thanks v much for sharing! So helpful.
One question I have is around "standard" and "above standard". My understanding the last few promotions is that we are being judged at the level you are going for. So a 7 going for 6 is rated based on a 6. So "at standard" means you are performing at the...
I’m going with Brian in the miniority here and as someone said at the beginning of this thread, based on the complicated law you could probably argue on or off for this situation. I’m happy to go with offside after seeing it 10 times. It’s the part of the law that sees defenders cutting out a...
This is actually my understanding of how it works. Don’t think county FAs actually decide on 4+. Though they clearly administer the process for 5-4 and will no doubt have an influence. Perhaps the criteria is different per region based on needs? Ie a county with low numbers might have a lower...
I am doing 5-4 this year and I understand the marks to still be in place and the only change is that the minimum required average has gone from 75.0 to 70.0
1) 100% pen. [insert debate on handball law but under current law that’s a handball]
2) rumour may be true but as we know if a player in an offside position is fouled before he becomes active it’s a pen.
All this. I read the laws a lot - definitely after every match and usually after someone posts on some incident here. The exams are not hard if you know the laws. I got 100% on 7-6 and one wrong on 6-5. The questions are worded a bit more difficult to make sure you truly understand the...
Really? Huh. I generally allow it (OA). I have refused though when it’s clearly time wasting or the 2nd or 3rd time from same player. If
It’s a goal kick tha’s gone over the fence and someone starts doing their lace and needs a bit more time to finish I allow it. Nothing crazy like a free kick...
Actually it is a bit funny. The film all their matches and USUALLY supportive of the ref if he’s made the right decision or understanding if he’s made the wrong decision. Of course if the ref makes a major mistake and it’s clear on the screen they take the piss - fair enough. They are just as...
Harsh. Every referee should know this is red but when you look at the Italian coach’s head smash assault and this I’d persoannly keep the hyperbole generator in storage and save it for horror incidents.
Our colleague has made a big mistake on the day and I can only assume his thinking was that...
I wonder what is driving this? Protection for unfit referees who feel pressure to do 2-4 youth games a weekend? That’s the only angle I can see - they cant’ be doing it for the clubs as this would surely result in fewer matches with an appointed referee.
Let’s be honest - if you are fit and in...
dunno - saw it on twitter this morning from Arsenal's official photographer. Seems like a post match hug from last night (Dean did award a pen to Arsenal). Not to be a stick in the mud but it looks really bad to be hugging the winning team in a match right?? I mean it's a proper bear hug! yeeesh...
I mean - wow. I had a particularly tough bench to manage last night with three dismissals but that was nothing compared to this.
5 month ban?? That’s it? How is this guy alllowed back in football?

Harsh HB but in the first incident I am so so happy Japan scored after 5 Iranian players stopped playing and surrounded the referee while the ball is still in play. Maybe they'll learn.
