    Scotland v Austria

Glad to hear it. I tried to view it without Saltire-tinted glasses to see if there was something I was missing, but it’s good to know I don’t seem to be missing anything. Overall I’m not too bothered, as a draw was probably a fair result overall.

    Scotland v Austria

Scottish penalty claim turned down last night? (Roughly 2:15 in below)

    Southampton v Brighton

Me as well. I was watching it with my Dad and brother at the time, and when I explained my surprise at it, they agreed as well.

    Wengers/FIFA’s offside proposal

    Completely agree on both points

    Wengers/FIFA’s offside proposal

No - me as well. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve said this to people. All that changing OS does is shift the problem as you say.

    Grass Roots Season Curtailment (?)

Looks like it’ll be the end of April before any games up here

    Fulham v Sheffield Utd

I’ve just seen it on MotD and must say I can’t see how it’s not been given

    Rather unusual for this level

Officials in bibs? It is a rather interesting look for that level of game.

    Grass Roots Season Curtailment (?)

That’s what happened before Christmas for the girls league I’ve been refereeing in. Their season is March to November, so they did this from October to Christmas there instead of clubs having to organise friendlies for up to 6 months. From what I gather, it seemed to work alright, and they’re...

    Sheffield Utd v Plymouth

I think so. Like you, I had no interest in either team, however this did strike me as an odd decision. I couldn’t really think why it wasn’t given.

    Positive Comments

I had a team a couple times just before Christmas who were very complimentary, saying how I “let the game flow” and just let them play football. I’m never sure if that kind of comment is truly reflective of the referee though, as to let a game flow relies on the players as well. A game can’t...

    My last ever observation

I’m not so sure on that. There was someone on the radio this morning explaining that if you imagine the two doses giving 100% immunity, then the 1st one gives around 90% of that, with the 2nd one giving the remaining immunity.

    Old Firm Send Off

Yep - DOGSO was the right call for me.

It was nice while it lasted...

With tier 4 right across mainland Scotland just now, there’s nothing until January 16th at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s longer than that though.

    Another big milestone

Didn’t realise it’s been going that long. I only came across the site around 18 months ago before signing up last December. Many thanks for all the work done in the background - it’s a great site that’s definitely helped develop me as a referee.

    Mobbing in the UK

They even do it when the referee literally has a finger to the ear saying “they’re checking it” 😡

    VAR question

Would it not be to give the offside? Would that not be the first offence?

    LIV TOT

Surprised me as well. As much as I disagree with the handball law, I can’t see how that’s not a penalty.

    DOGSO in the first minute

It’s a tough one. Once you give the foul, it has to be a red card for me. Below is a still image - from the other side of the pitch - at the point of contact. I personally don’t believe either defender would catch him.

    Bellerin's foul throws

It looks like one of those “ugly but legal” throws to me
