Ref didn’t call anything on field. VAR sent him to screen to check for Violent Conduct. Ref goes yellow. Not the best angle but the best I can find. What we thinking?
Poor Sam. Tough game.
First foul looks like clear DOGSO. AR needs to be weighing in here imo.
Handball is really clear but again I think the ref needs AR to help him out. Ref doesn’t seem to have an angle to see contact with hand and AR should be bang in line or thereabouts with Bannan.
The...
I was at the game as an away fan and it didn’t look like violent conduct live and it doesn’t look like violent conduct on the telly. Absurd on field decision and even more absurd to be sent to the monitor and still deem it VC. Felt like a turning point for that referees career sadly
It's a you had to be there scenario for sure. The way I'm picturing things it doesn't sound like the keeper has the ball in his hands, puts it down planning to distribute with his foot then decides to pick it back up under some pressure. More of a save, release the ball while on the ground, grab...
I wouldn’t be penalising this but may have a quiet word with the keeper. He isn’t gaining any advantage at all and, although IDFK is justifiable in law, I don’t think it’s necessary or favourable in this situation especially at u13 level.
No way VAR needs to get involved here. Although it can be argued that it’s correct in law, it isn’t what anyone involved in the game of football expects. Totally unnecessary.
I wonder if you guys are moving to Comet? In Scotland we moved to Comet at start of the season. Slowly but surely all forms of football are being administered on this system; teamlines, misconduct, appointments etc. after a rocky start I must say I have become a huge fan.
I’d be interested to...
I’m a CAS coordinator but don’t cover many games myself. What I know for certain is the conduct by all participants is far better than standard grass roots players/coaches/parents.
One of the main reasons referees cite when committing themselves to CAS games above any other leagues is the lack...
Was listening to this podcast hosted by ex cat 1 referees from Scotland analysing scottish Prem game key refereeing decisions.
Anyway, a situation occurred in Hearts game I think where keeper had ball in hand after claiming a cross. Defender cuddles him to say well done and patted the ball with...
The most entertaining match I’ve attended in person. Never a dull moment and VAR controversy all Over the shop.
Interested in peoples thoughts on:
1. Handball penalty (start of clip)
2. Vassell on the ground incident (01:31)
3. 2nd yellow for Mandron? (02:27)
4. Joe Wright red card for violent...
In scotland grassroots football our club assistants only deal with ball in/out of play. Referee has 100% responsibility for offside. And it works fine. A general acceptance from everyone that it’s incredibly difficult to get right every time means I can count on one hand the number of ‘issues’...
I’m also based in Scotland and some Referee Associations offer a practical session after passing the LOTG exam. Mine certainly did.
What you’ll find is that most of your learning will happen once you get out on the pitch. You will learn on the hop but I’d hope you will also be observed by more...
I think it’s a red. Studs contacting the leg a good bit above the ankle endangering the opponent. Any lower probably yellow but just high enough for red imo.
The commentator mentions him “winning the ball so cleanly” but he’s got to be in control of where his foot goes after winning the ball.
Looks like he’s shrugged him off after Robertson grabbed his elbow and caught him a bit because he was so close.
Nothing to see here imo but I dare say plenty will be made of it.
