I do see what you’re saying. But like others have said , it’s got to be a red card and I just felt it look a tad long for him to give it considering the only option was red card. But I do appreciate your point 😁
Have to agree. Was surprised he took so long to get the RC out. Looked like he was communicating with other officials……. At that level I’d expect it to be given straight away.
Similar thing to me last week. I refereed a college game and a tackle went in. I’ve blown the whistle and ran over and got my notebook out and he’s walked past me and said ‘I know I’m off’ then turned round and gave me his name(without me asking) and said ‘I know it’s a red’
I wasn’t going to...
Everyone’s different. I’ve found my cautioning process has been much faster at level 4 and better. I just tick off the name as I caution them - plus I can also find out other people’s names that I want to know (throwers, goalkeepers names etc) that’s helped massively. If I want to start calling...
If you only get the team sheets 5 minutes prior , a useful way might be to write the teams in your notebook but only write their first name and number. If you caution them, ask their surname.
Or, you write their initials in your notebook and their number and just check their initials when...
As a member of the league itself, it’s fair to say most officials aren’t’ happy.
If the league require it, I’ll do it. But some officials have openly said they will refuse to attend games and/ or attend games in a tracksuit.
I’ve done referee abroad a few times and I agree. We referee differently to other European referees. A lot of them flash cards about, run into situations too quickly, etc. Too eccentric.
I don’t keep my cards in my wallet/ notebook, so don’t have this issue really. The A&H cards can’t really get discoloured because of the material (or the ones I have, anyway). I also use some from referee direct which have some marks on but it’s nothing that’s really noticeable as I keep them in...
It will depend on a mix of factors including:
Your score
Your colleagues’ score(s)
Your administration
How many level 4’s they need in each region
Maybe some other things I’ve left out if anyone could shed light ?
I think this is a useful time to have a laugh whilst also ‘warning’ them. Maybe something along the lines of ‘probably not best to say that when I’m within ear’s distance of you’ with a smile and a laugh. Could work 🤷♂️
The advice is to stand back and observe, take note of what happened and the action you’ll be taking. You’re not a bodyguard/police officer, so you’re not expected to be splitting up players. Was this definitely an u6 match ?
