Now now @RegalRef that's unfair. Thats the same advice i was given on my refs course. If reffing older age groups then have blank paper or a notebook to note down anything said. Fair play to @Padfoot. Sorry if i sound patronising but pointless jibes are stupid.
3g does tend to mean that players will play football more. That and i think lots of older players have memories of the sand based astros and are afraid of going down on it.
I love PRO, we have used it at refs association meetings. PGMOL is symptomatic of football in England (remember it's not for all UK associations). All money and rights are tied up so not even the RA can take clips and those that FA tutors get are ancient.
It was a double edged thing to be honest, i was the only ref being asked to do a 30 mile round trip to ref this team when there were other refs who hadn't been there all of this or last season. I didn't see how it was fair.
Ah @Beezer! You must have had the same issue as me! Coach gave me stick and the large youth league I'm on appoint 2 or more weeks in advance and i knew i had them again for theirnect home game. I contacted the appointments sec and asked to do a different game that day. Got demoted to u10s for 6...
I had one who tried to walk off so i calledthe skipper over to get the players name instead. He got the player over pretty quick. As above, use the captain and then if it is the captain go to the coach.
Most would rely on the built in features of either mitoo or full time for this. Mitoo has a calendar that the refs mark as open or closed and the sec cant allocate unless it is marked.
A good incentive for clubs is "if i call it off you still have to pay half the match fee so maybe you want to call it before I do?" Proverbial rocket up the backside.
Great work doing that though, now all the football loving kids in the playground will go around decking all the wrestling kids. Bloody potato headed shrek lookalike.
Does the league have match delegates from each club? You could insist that they keep spectators behind the tape so not near the ends if the pitch.
I had a real issue with this in a u8 game last year. Box of tea cups on touchline that ball smashed into, umbrellas stuck into ground just behind...
Don't worry, on my course the tutor told a story of a referee who produced a yellow for dogso (odd) and then the player walked (v odd). Post match he tutor asked the ref what was going on, turned out the ref had stuck the yellow and red together so he wouldn't forget which pocket was which card...
Sorry @CapnBloodbeard, it was confused. The words in quotations i have never had to use but would if needed. The u12 who said "the ref is a cheat " got a very public reprimand that all the other players could hear (using my best stern teacher voice) as it was a corner and all bar 2 or 3 were...
Very early on i would have stopped the game and said to the coach "either you sub him and cool him off or I'll have no option but to control his behaviour with cards." A u12 player called me a cheat last season so i loudly reprimanded him and said i didn't want to hear from him again and told...
It was mentioned at ours. We shall see what happens. It was such a hard sell at our meeting this week and I question the value of the annual fee as it now only subsidises conference and little else.
