    New futsal DOGSO confusion

Minor correction here -- if the GK is in the PA, but out of position (ie, not in the goal, but over near one of the corners for example), then it can still be DOGSO.

    New futsal DOGSO confusion

@one -- You have to remember that they transferred the text from the 2019-20 football laws, before the "usually" changes were removed. There's already some established resistance to the outcome of the "accidental handball" leading to a penalty or possible DFKSAF. I've had a few conversations...

    New futsal DOGSO confusion

Poor editing, unfortunately. If the GK is guarding the goal, it can never be DOGSO (as per pg 63 of the 20/21 Laws). To guard the goal, the GK must be in their penalty area between the ball and the goal. If the GK is NOT in that circumstance, then and situation where the attacking players...

Offside IDFK from the right place?

The question specifically was relating to "diagram 4". The player, in that case, becomes active when the referees (well, AR to be precise) deem them as interfering with play. Which is often before they play the ball (and thus interfere with play). In the case where this isn't the case, then...

Offside IDFK from the right place?

Where the AR flagged... that's when the player was considered to have committed the offence.

Offensive language on a football pitch

"Bat-ty Boy" to be more precise. The referee was unfamiliar with the term.

Brighton v Manchester United - Handball after final whistle

How? With the "they're checking for violent conduct, and the check is complete" stuff? That's part of the VAR implementation. Notification is given to media for all VAR checks/etc, including the result of each check.

    Rangers vs Dundee Utd

No. The point of contact isn't all that matters. That's a starting point. You need to take into account the degree of force too. There was an excellent one in a Europa League game last year that was studs into the knee... but with a very low amount of force (the sliding player was pulling the...

    ARSENAL VS CHELSEA

For me, the combination of the ball control being on the verge of questionable plus the other defender being 3-4m away towards the centre of the field introduced just sufficient doubt from obvious. And put the decision as to whether a player is sent off in the hands of the kicker and...

    UEFA VIDEO DECISION CLIPS

Do you mean like the UEFA 2019:2 RAP (Refereeing Assistance Program) set, or? If you disagree with the decision, you should take the time to figure out why the decision is given as it is. The people that put those together have a number of FIFA instructors and FIFA referees look at the...

    players equipment

At top levels, they actually do an equipment check in or outside of the changerooms, then a cursory double-check one in the lineup to go out.

    Oxford v Wycombe

Look at the speed of the player at the moment of the foul though. Take that foul away, he's pretty damned likely to get that ball. Having said that, my gut is that this was SPA, and the GK is trying to play this ball with his hands, so... downgrade that YC.

    Oxford v Wycombe

I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the lineup for game one... then retire. From what I read, he's under contract for another year with the club anyhow.

    players equipment

I remember a World Cup qualifier that was held 3 blocks from my house a number of years back... One of the Canadian players couldn't get a wedding band off. Actually couldn't. They ended up taking a Dremmel to it so that he could play. Ref was 100% not letting him near the field with it on.

    Oxford v Wycombe

To be frank? That was really a DOGSO challenge. GK did try for the ball, so caution would've been suited. I can see the referee viewing it as SPA though, which, because of the attempt at the ball, would be downgraded to no card.

    players equipment

What is wrong with tape on a finger? A wrist? Otherwise? Nothing. There's only a problem if there's something underneath it.

    Blackburn v WBA

I was addressing just your comment about surely a caution for deliberate handball and trying to point out why this would NOT be a cautionable offence. I didn't see the play so cannot address the "diving" part. One big issue is that the plays you mention have no context. I have no idea where...

    Blackburn v WBA

Why? Did he stop a promising attack? Did he try to score a goal with a deliberate handball? Did he try to stop a goal from being scored by the opponent, but fail? No? No reason to caution a deliberate handball.
