Offside - But the attacking player didn't move until..........

As @one points out, it's following the Law, FIFA passed down some recommendations, UEFA worked on them a bit more, PGMOL took the next step... and those are helping referees (especially those at the top levels) decide what the "set time" is being mentioned directly above this one...

Offside - But the attacking player didn't move until..........

By UEFA's direction, the defender is allowed a "reasonable chance" to be able to play that ball properly without being limited by the player in offside position, otherwise the PIOP is considered to be challenging an opponent, which is an offence. We saw a good example of this (that the PGMOL...

    When is it too windy?

But the ball isn't in play, so that's not relevant.

Peak A-League - manager awards a free kick

Blue put a foot high, so the direction of the FK looks to be relatively reasonable to me... Yes, the optimal option would be for a dropped ball to occur, but I suspect that the referee went for some match control, and just went with the offence, which he may have felt was trifling, but smooths...

    Red or Advantage?

Our association recently took a stand on this and stated that the delayed whistle (silent advantage) is appropriate if there's an obvious goal scoring opportunity (ie, empty net, etc). If the player can't score on that, caution to the offender and go from there. Now, an obvious goal scoring...

    Jewellery Again

The referee in question was fighting for a spot at the World Cup finals. He wasn't going to let someone play with a ring because that would've been the end of his competition. It was much closer to this (though the grinding "blade" was soft and barely abraided the skin when it went against...

    Jansson red

The lack of control of the ball and the non-likelihood of gaining control. The other three considerations are met... but not that one.

    Jewellery Again

I remember when we had a World Cup qualifier in my city a number of years back. I was one of the volunteers that helped with the ref crew. One of my country's players had a wedding ring that they ended up having to cut off with a grinder so that he could play. It was a bit of an interesting...

I think its Blackburn, cant tell. v Newcastle

The defender made a deliberate play on the ball by heading it. The ball went to an opponent who was in offside position, but because of the deliberate play, it was not an offside offence. Ergo, too bad, so sad on the defender for giving up that chance (which ultimately led to a goal).

Defender headed the ball to the Newcastle player who was in offside position. Too bad, so sad.

    Spurs - Chelsea VAR

If SPA in the penalty area and there's an attempt at the ball (which this is based on IFAB and FIFA instruction, albeit late), then no caution, unless the offence is deemed reckless (obviously). The ball is flicked past the GK, and then the question really becomes, what is the likelihood that...

    HATS!!!!!

Because he had a head injury. Suffered a cut in their first game, it reopened and the wound and bandage were covered with a cap to keep it all secure for the second half. No issues from the officials with that.
