I think I would have went to the goalkeeper and communicated why they were being cautioned and to inform them that time would be added on. That would be a proactive response as well as an active one.

Not an experienced ref, but I would say if the attacker was already OffS and then made a play for the ball then he is still going to be OffS as he is looking to gain an advantage from being in that position.

All I can say is trust me... if Coote was a Scottish ref talking about either of the big two here, it would be an inferno that would torch the entire Scottish game for years.
