    I dropped a big boll@ck today

In this situation would you not say that an advantage did accrue but the attacker failed to make the most of it? Personally, if I think a player has a good enough opportunity to score but fails to take it, I won't be giving him/her another bite of the cherry.

Reading this, I would say you got it right. You believed that an opportunity to score existed, so you didn't blow. Good call. I wouldn't call it DOGSO. Yes, you could have (and maybe should have as a sign of acknowledgement of the offence) booked the goalkeeper for handball.

    Deliberately parrying the ball

Imagine penalising for that though... there'd be uproar

I agree... bloody annoying. But, all we can do is get on with it as they're allowed to do it. It's seen participation in Cornwall remain steady, which is important.

My league run rolling subs... it's fantastic. Yes, it can be annoying when clubs chop 'n' change at an annoying rate, but it's rare.

"The reason people don't think you are right is very very simple........it's because you are wrong!" - In your opinion. With regards to your first paragraph, I work very closely with the County FA and have attended these meetings helping to teach the referees and clubs the new system. I'm happy...

    Sin Bin - Guinea pigs

I agree with you. Card skin suppliers have already designed cards to shows this chart, as have match day card manufacturers. With training and a bit of reading, it really isn't that hard to get your head around. It would look rubbish if the ref pulled a miniature copy of this graph out to...

    Sin Bin - Guinea pigs

Sorry it took a while to reply... Was getting off my high horse!!! Dissent is a problem. The stats show that as clear as day. So the governing body are trying to find a way of eradicating it, or at least minimising it. The problem with most referees that disagree with it is because they are...

:wall: How can we expect the club's to support it when some of us aren't willing to? In a year's time, I'll eat my hat if people still have the same opinion

Have you attended one of the Temporary Dismissal meetings that we are currently hosting in Cornwall? All referees were emailed by the Appointments Officer

Not entirely accurate. You can be substituted depending on when the player receives the caution and if he has another non dissent caution to his name.

    Sin Bin - Guinea pigs

The harsher punishment between the two is the ten minutes off the field, by a long shot. It will be a much bigger deterrent than a £10 fine. A player dishing it out to you should be cautioned for dissent, regardless of whether he is right or wrong. The stats are so simple to read but people...

    Sin Bin - Guinea pigs

It's not about making it a harsher punishment... It's about making it more of a deterrent. If a referee finds it hard to "mentally justify" it, do they have a strong enough character to be in the middle in the first place?

    Sin Bin - Guinea pigs

Not condescending at all as I was waiting for your response before I finished what I wanted to say... A ten pound fine to the majority means Bugger all. It is nothing. There is no lesson learnt, there is no deterrent and it becomes a badge of honour for some. Now, flip the coin and put in your...

Trust me, going a man down for ten minutes will do much more damage than giving moving a ball forward ten yards. Have you ever played the game?

    Newbie Ref

Firstly, welcome to the refereeing family. Dont put too much pressure on yourself. The referee course teaches you the laws. That's not enough though; you have to understand them in order to apply them properly. Once you start refereeing games, you will begin understanding. I would certainly...
