Given the perilous stae of the pitch, unplayable 4 hours previously, and as Matt Beard said, every weather forecast saying the temperatures were not going to rise, surely might have been prudent to visit the worse area of the pitch during the warm up? I know, we rightly, on here, look for...

Doesn't sound right does it? Not sure how a pitch can be playable at KO, but unsafe 6 minutes later. Is that being harsh?

AND they only pay expenses!

Always worth checking competition rules. Local youth league I used to officiate on insists all games are called off in person by the match referee attending. Only exceptions are private grounds - ie clubs/schools where the owner can call off the games. Ridiculous rule and just one of the reason...

I had one parent dispute a postponement by me - "Its OK under that tree" he said as he pointed to said circle of ground about 50 yards away! :rolleyes:

Now we're back to the flawed blue sky thinking regarding VAR. As we know, it is not some mythical all seeing, always correct being - its a real life referee - and as we all realise as one of those ourselves, we DO make mistakes!

That's exactly what I meant. Like most TV pundits and fans, some on here, think just because they don't agree with the original decision, it MUST be wrong, so therefore, VAR should get involved. You can see the players think that, they see VAR as a chance to overturn original decision. As...

How about a new rule on here. More than two opposing views and we ALL agree no need for VAR to get involved :p

Agree. Any player at any age can have issues off the pitch. That's an impossible load the previous poster is putting on us there, if we are supposed to take in 'possible' off field reasons for any behaviour. Surely, at any level, any player not physically or mentally fit to play shouldn't be...

Much prefer that way of doing things, IF we have to have VAR. Obviously the key test for HW will be to get all referees to consistently apply the same level 'bar' when acting as VAR.

No surprise. In one of his "You Are the Ref" books he says that it is illegal for GKs to wear short sleeves! :rolleyes:

Wonder if the communication will be "open" ie everything is audible or if someone - Referee?; 4th?, VAR?, Broadcaster? decides who can hear what?
