Hate being picky but on an official edict from the FA "Foul and abusive language is still a red card" ??!!
Yes we can accept fans and pundits using out dated terminology but the FA - espcially in an email sent to referees!
I was on the line this week, player got a sin bin...
We also had the incident in the FA Cup kicks from the penalty mark - that one was replayed.
Errors in law are rare at the top levels, I guess there are reasons for the other officials not getting involved for each one I guess?
I'm guessing its like a few other high profile incidents (on the fop) where the referee has been wrong in law (Stroud at Newcastle) but the other 3 don't feel they can question the man in charge?
Oh so that's all right then?
Had one last night, player thought his teammate had been fouled a few seconds earlier, so decided to take out an oppo player - easy yellow - or not in your view as it was 'justified'?!
Maybe that gushing interview you did with head of FIFA before VAR was introduced to the UK was not such a good idea Gary?
Who was that presenter, can't quite remember his name, who after EVERY match the season before VAR, said "If only we had technology eh?"
Indeed Danny Murphy's 100% belief that he did NOT say anything, just because his team mate had told the MOTD interviewer that, was pretty.......naive - I'll keep it polite!
Ask him to move it, if he doesn't or moves it back - caution (using same logic as cautioning for making unauthorised marks on fop) - am I missing something?
I had one this week. Attacker tripped in the penalty area, just about to blow for pen, when another defender toes the ball in the net - goal!
Well done me.......said no one! :p
On a general point, always a better 'look' with either, players, managers or colleagues, if you have made a clear error to admit it.
Your reaction proves that point!
A little known part of the law.
Once had a captain ask us before the game about it - don't remember his side taking advantage of said knowledge though!
I think that's a really good point and applies to so many aspects of the LOTG. The obvious one is Dissent and OFFINABUS, its obvious from the many many discussions on here about both subjects that there is not a universally accepted 'bar' for either offence at any level.
If one referee allows...
He did indeed, I remember him. He also used to ask EVERYONE who started a thread about a specific grassroots match incident, the age of the players - he did it without fail. Sadly you are correct, he passed away some years ago now.
Agree.
I seem to remember a psychologist the RA quoted a while ago said it was human nature to blame something outside your control ie the referee, rather than something within your control, ie your own players.
If you're getting loud appeals for a "foul throw" AND you think it looks awkward, no harm in having a quick word with the thrower, on the run as it were. Often the same few players will take throws. I did that this week and it worked!
Caveat - It was an extremely well behaved public schools...
