Delusional coaches killing the youth game

Not been a ref long, but long enough to see the damage that is being done to our youth game by certain people who are not fit to be coaches. Their general bad attitude towards us referees flows down through onto their young impressionable teams and their frustrations and little high-pitched...

suspension due to low club marks?

Have you considered taking a step down (sorry not too sure how it works in England) and taking on youth games etc and that might help build confidence up and maybe help. In my first year I have found managing players is easy, the coaches... not so much.

    Start Watch/Whistle or Whistle/Start Watch.

One for all newbie referees including myself who have found that they didn't actually start their watches before starting each half. So what would be your best practice?

suspension due to low club marks?

I don't think this happens in Scotland... not that I have heard,

suspension due to low club marks?

I would actually prefer some feedback from the clubs themselves on the day. Points are one thing, but they don't tell the whole story of what you could have done better. I only do youth games, and the only feedback I get is from the coaches at the end.

    Appeals

I suppose you need to look at the Sunday Morning games at the park where there will be less evidence around to support an appeal than there would be in a PL game. So basically the higher up the league the more chance an appeal is successful. For me, we shouldn't take anything to do with appeals...

The VAR Review | January 2025

To be fair, the Scottish media rarely get their knickers in a twist if it doesn't involve Rangers or Celtic. These decisions matter more; in one side's eye, they will never be 100% correct.

    Liverpool vs Ipswich

This actually looks like a move from MMA than a challenge for the ball!

Open Age sin bin with less than 10 minutes left.

Not against them, but for the reason stated here, it seems complicated remembering and timings etc if you are on your own.

    Junior/Youth OFFINABUS Report

Don't know how this is dealt with in England but do ERs go to a higher disciplinary committee?

Open Age sin bin with less than 10 minutes left.

This is why I am glad Sin Bins aren't used in Scotland.

    Watford v Lewes

It is easy to watch something and see the decisions could maybe be different. I think the DOGSO RC is the only decision you could come up with for the goalkeeper and when you send players off for other things then you are going to be under the whataboutery conundrum with that. Looked a good...

    David coote

Sexuality has little to do with what you say about others, if anything it should make you feel more reluctant to say something that would be deemed offensive. I think the culture in football is changing because our youngsters appear to be showing a bit more tolerance towards each other's...

    First game

Every game you are going to think you could have done something better or could have done something differently. Recognising mistakes (and I made a howler yesterday by YC a keeper while the ball was actually still in play... a long story, but one I will learn from.) What you lack in voice make...

    Misapplication of Law

If you are going to play under the LOTG then you play under the LOTG. Up here apparently a club official was carrying a copy of an email sent from a league official stating subs used could take penalties. Some clarification is really needed.

GK injury (no contact) as striker shoots and scores

I think you're basically relying on the opposition attackers to realise the situation and maybe not score, but I would say what the game expects is a goal and nothing else. I think the defenders are out of order because, in the end it is their failure to stop the attack, while you have...
