I don't think it would, as far as I can see the only people that have any issues with it are some referees. No complaints from the conceding club, their players, coaches, supporters, etc, and all I've seen online is comments about the keeper being a clown.

Now we have established a referee COULD deem this to be USB why do some people think it's ok for a player to do this?

Has society moved on and standards are not what they were?

One for you to consider: Reds attack breaks down, Blues full back comes away with the ball, then is challenged. Turns back, plays the ball towards the goalkeeper. Reds attacker was hovering some 5 metres behind the goalkeeper, runs forward, gathers ball, kicks into Blues goal.
Do you think he should be penalised for USB?

Yes - players deliberately staying off of the FOP behind the goal-line are looking to gain an unfair advantage.

For me, if a player leaves the FOP they should rejoin ASAP - not wait for an unfair advantage.

IF the red player is ON the FOP at ALL times - goal awarded - no problem. This is the GK's fault.

We have not established that this could be USB in any meaningful way. We just have the opinions of a variety of posters, many / all of whom have never worked at this level of football. I believe it is ok for the player to do this because it is not clearly outlawed anywhere within the LOTG.

Yes society has changed and standards are not what they were. This is best exemplified in a footballing context by the way we have changed from penalising all 'Foul' language to only that which is deemed OFFINABUS.

Do players have a duty to rejoin the game ON the FOP ASAP if they accidentally leave the FOP?

I understand an injured player cannot do this.

Is "not showing respect for the game" ITOOTR?

No, there is nothing in Law that says this.

As for lack of respect ITOTR, this could literally be used to justify a caution for ANY player action .. Yellow Card for picking your nose anyone?! :)

More seriously, players incorrectly appealing for restarts, falling over under minimal contact and knowingly trying to take a restart from the wrong location are all 'sneaky, unsporting and disrespectful' actions. And we caution for none of them.

Treat them as "on the ball" incidents (where you can't be certain they were deliberate attempts to deceive) - but treat this as blatant cheating.
