Turgid first half aside from the clever free kick routine.

Early in second half Trossard has studs raked down his calf and Achilles. Free kick given but no review nor even a caution. To say I’m surprised is an understatement particularly given the early Lukaku caution ( no issue with that by the way).

Lots of talk about offside for the disallowed goal but not a single mention of the fact it had to be disallowed anyway as an attacker moved within 1m of the wall when the kick was taken

I’d thought that initially and then ruled it out because of the prevailing commentary. Someone else thinking the same means I might not be wrong.

Huh. I didn't think there was any question at all about the foul. I thought it would be given through the VAR if the R hadn't called it. Though there can certainly be griping about what hasn't been called in this game that isn't that different.

which it could be argued he did.
If it's for an offence before the restart doesn't that lead to the restart being retaken?

I don't think you can review a possible block / hold, identify no offence, but then review the distance from wall at restart?

I'd have to look more closely again at the changes around restarts and the bar protocol.

To be fair, regardless of the protocol, if that can't be disallowed by VAR (and it should be spotted on field) then something is wrong. The player who was within 1m of the wall didn't just happen to stand too close, he backed in to the end player on the wall holding him off to stop that player breaking away to challenge the man the ball was passed to. A perfect example of wall interference.

Good Referee
Life was sucked out of the game by the very tardy process of disallowing the goal followed by the immediate advert break
Shame, goal was arguably the best yet and game was getting interesting
Joyous scenes in the crown, Belgian kids crying etc etc. When will they learn!? It's not a goal until they've kicked off FGS
