However, much as I think it isn’t a penalty, I can entirely understand the rationale of saying it is a penalty, which I think is your point about clear and obvious. In my mind it was a clear and obvious error - though not as obvious an error as the Fernandes incident - but in yours and others’ it isn’t (ergo, I guess, it’s not clear and obvious!).
What a mess VAR is, and when we (collectively, not you & I!) regular disagree on interpretation and decisions when we all know the LOTG, it hardly surprising pundits and fans disagree too.
