Junior/Youth Players wanting a whistle for ridiculous things

Hi, i just wanted to get some opinions on this since it seems to be mixed opinions. I had a u15 boys game were it started of with kit clashes but it got sorted out. Now to the main issue is that whilst refereeing, the players keep asking for a whistle blow for throw ins goal kick corners and other stuff that just seems petty. When i did the course we were told to use it to stop and start play if the ball is in play or kick off. After the game the managers kept complaining i wasnt using my whistle. Just want some clearing up on it thanks in advance

Nope, you wouldn’t blow the whistle for throw-ins, goal kicks etc unless they were a tight ball in/out scenario.

If just bog standard out of play, no whistle

You don't need to blow the whistle for every restart. Goal kicks, corners etc don't need a whistle. Free kicks don't need a whistle unless you're trying to control the restart eg in an attacking part and the field of play where you might be setting a wall or you don't want a quick fk being taken. In those cases it helps to make it known it's on the whistle.

As a quick rule of thumb, if I've stopped the game with the whistle I'll expect to be a restart with a whistle or a very clear indication/call that they can restart as all players are set.

Wait, I may have read the thread wrong. If they’re asking for whistle to re-start play, @Viridis1886 pretty much covers it.

If there’s been a delay to the restart for whatever reason you may look to blow.

As set out in the other thread, the Guidance at the back of the LOTG is pretty clear about when the whistle is and isn’t needed.

I watched an obviously new referee doing a 10U game who was calling fouls with his voice. I went out to him at half and offered him a whistle, assuming he had forgotten his. Nope. He just vastly over interpreted the idea of not using the whistle when it is isn’t needed.
