Injured player booking

Hi all, seeking some clarification on something.

A team is cut down to 10 players as one has to leave the FoP due to injury - they have no substitutes. The player is situated on the bench. If this player begins to shout dissent from the bench, would they be booked as a player (and thus sin-binned whilst on the bench) because they technically haven't been substituted and could return into the game should they recover, or would they be booked as a substitute (technical caution)?

This is a great question.

I would treat them as a player and temporarily dismiss them. The situation is exactly the same as if they showed dissent whilst waiting to return having left to receive treatment.

I disagree with @Kent Ref. As you say, should this player recover they could return because they have not been substituted, so I would think a sin bin would still be applicable.

Same scenario but the player instead of being on the bench shows dissent while acting as a club assistant referee 🤔

Player, too injured to return to the field, but fit enough to run the line?
Who was running the line before he went off?

Anyway, this is all fantasy so I would sin bin, and removal from CAR duty and ask for my old CAR back.

ask for my old CAR back.
Reminds me of a quarrel I had with my mechanic ☺️

For OP, the player was not replaced so he can come back to the FOP at any time with your permission (no other player has to come off). lotg calls them "player temporarily off the field of play" so, sin can be binned on dissent, or if the game goes to shootout they can take part.

I took from the description the injured player was too injured to rejoin the team for that game.
Doesn't really matter. Think about it logically, they can only be classified as player. They can't have been substituted as there were no substitutes to replace them, therefore the substitution procedure has neither completed nor finished.
