I am just wondering on how to start getting games I have emailed multiple leagues and they aren’t getting back to me (I emailed them 3 weeks ago) I’m just so confused and frustrated that it seems to be that I am getting no where I have attending training for 3 weeks in a row I’m just looking for any advice I am a new referee category 7 I just really want advice

Not sure how it works in Scotland but in England the folks who trained you should make the introductions and the League Appointments Secretaries should contact you.
However, the season is finished here, so no games to give you.
Is that also the case in Glasgow?

when I had this problem I did two things and eventually I started getting appointed games instead of having to get them off the find games section on YesRef.

Note: my CFA do appointments instead of league

First; Talk to referees or mentors you know and let them know your not getting appointed games, especially with youth referees, mentors/referee coaches are more than willing to make an email/phone call to your local fa or speak to the people they know who are high up at the CFA, eventually the CFA recognise that your hungry for games and will recognise you

Second; Email the person you think is most appropriate at the CFA, if they don’t reply then try another email address for someone else, if no one from the appointments team responds then send it to the generic email most CFA set up for refs (e.g referees@countyname.com) If still no one replies phone the CFA. By this point at least someone should have seen/heard about your issue.

Last thing I’m going to say is don’t spam the CFA, they are busy, give them a few days to reply then maybe look at a different point of contact. And if you still ain’t getting appointments when you’ve been told u will start to after a month or two just remind them, don’t be rude. By this point your appointments officer will see your commitment and recognise that your willing and your efforts will pay off

It might be the time of year. Don't know if it is the same in Scotland, but in England grass roots leagues tend to be winding down during April and probably have very few games available in May. Depends what has happened in terms of weather over the Winter, but this has been a mild one and I know a lot of leagues are already finished or as good as.

Hi mate,

As the above comments have suggested. It is simply getting to the end of season where games will be winding down.

We contact leagues ourself here so have no help from any association.

Local leagues that you can contact are below but may just need to wait til the start of next season.

Welcome to the association.
