    Dissent

Cheers. This is my main target over my next few games. It's almost about getting over the barrier I've set myself for not cautioning dissent..I reckon once I get the first couple done, I'll be on it much more appropriately

    Quick Free Kick

Yea I know I need to clamp down on dissent as well. It's taken a couple of well behaved teams today to make me realise that it's not just normal Sunday league behaviour! I'll be giving yellow cards next weekend for sure. I'm reffing a team I've done before who gave quite a lot of dissent last...

    Quick Free Kick

I suppose the alternative reality is the reverse of this, which is that most referees let a bit of mouthing off go and you let nothing go so they are hard done by you. Maybe you also talk to them in a similar way to how you've communicated with me on here. In which case they should feel hard...

    Quick Free Kick

Feel sorry for the players all you like! Both sets of players said to me after the game they appreciated me refereeing and that they were tired of, in their words, "coffin dodgers" who couldn't keep up with play and distributed yellow cards from the centre circle every time anyone dare suggest...

    Dissent

At one point, I would say yes. I can't quite visualise it exactly as it was. It was a classic sliding challenge one leg forward one trailing. I can't help but feel I'm trying to be caught out haha. It was never a straight red. Never.

He left the ground as part of his sliding motion. He jumped into the sliding challenge. It wasn't excessive force at all so it was only a yellow.

    Dissent

As in he made a sliding challenge from behind yes. Got the ball with his right leg and then cleared through the player with the rest of his momentum. The kind of challenge TV pundits still describe as good old fashioned challenges.

    Dissent

For the reckless challenge? I blew up for the obvious freekick, he claimed he got the ball, I agreed but said in order to do so he recklessly left the ground and went through the back of the player. I then asked for his surname, he gave it, and I showed him the yellow card.

    Quick Free Kick

Nope. And you won't like me for this! But because it was the last minute of the game and all had been well behaved I let him off with a warning and pretty much blew the final whistle.

    Quick Free Kick

Allowed play to go on from a quick free kick in the last few minutes of my game today. It was to the home team who were 2-0 up and nothing came of it. The captain of the away team took exception to this because apparently a spectator had been giving grief to his player (the perp of the foul)...

    Open Age Today's game...

I had a very helpful CAR who kept waving his flag like a madman. I asked what the problem was and he was trying to indicate foul throws for me...I politely declined. And yes, I spoke to him about what I expected pre match.

    Dissent

I just did my fourth open age game today. Had a reckless challenge go in from behind so I brought out my first card. I honestly didn't have any challenges up until today that even got me wondering about giving a caution. All I'm having to deal with is careless little trips and the occasional...

"OFFINABUS" or "delay that taxi" ...?

Fair enough. Still you are of the opinion that there is a context on the football field where you wouldn't send a player off for using it? Whereas Kick it out make it clear that context is irrelevant?

    Open Age Today's game...

Seems legit. A 14 year old to have to deal with that isn't fair. But not for you to arrange is it!

"OFFINABUS" or "delay that taxi" ...?

"kick it out condems racial slurs. The use of the n-word irrespective of context, and will act on any complaints made to the organisation on it."
