Why did the ref allow a player to try and put a player off?

Yes it's quite nice to see it at this level, it gives a better understanding of how games are played at the level, what happens on and off the pitch.

Why did the ref allow a player to try and put a player off?

It's not someone on the sideline. It's a player on the pitch, the centre back (if you pause it at 22s, its him).

Why did the ref allow a player to try and put a player off?

No, but where do you draw the line between legally banter/putting someone off, and unsportsmanlike behaviour? Would you yourself accept it when ball is in play or after the whistle has been blown for the penalty to be taken? LOTG only state its unsportsman like when "verbally distracts an...

Why did the ref allow a player to try and put a player off?

I am a Wycombe Wanderers supporter and also a casual referee. One of our players does videos and this one stood out to me when he posted it. Throughout the clip you can see what he is doing, and you can even see the official (Kevin Friend) laughing at what is happening. I don't officiate...

    Ball to hand and advantage

Hmm my understanding is that it is still an offence if the player has made himself bigger? Making yourself bigger (lifting the arms for example), doesn't mean its a deliberate handball but it is still an offence, I thought. https://www.theifab.com/laws/chapter/32/section/92/ Or have I read this...

    Advantage in Penalty Area

Holy moly that's so close to what happened in my game!! What are the chances. Whistle in the mouth and everything. However I then didn't give the penalty. :)

    Advantage in Penalty Area

    Er, what?

    Advantage in Penalty Area

It's one thing I think I am going to push back on myself - giving advantage. A get a bit of slack every game from players and coaches who want the free kick until they go on and score. Which happened in this same match. "Ref free kick!" multiple times, but playing advantage which then came of...

    Advantage in Penalty Area

I "shouted" (whistle in mouth, but said as loud as I could) as soon as I realised the attacker had a great opportunity to score, rather than just as he received the ball. And that is why I questioned whether I should have or not. The foul meant the ball landed to an attacker who was unmarked...

    Advantage in Penalty Area

Yes, regretting it was what has been going through my mind. It was harder to miss than to score (adult goal, goalkeeper is about 41/2 foot), but they were only 13, so many chances do go amiss. I don't think it helped that the coaches for that same team were against every decision, every tackle...

    Advantage in Penalty Area

Yes, adult goals with U14s I have no idea how they didn't score. I am too slow with my whistle and that's what I am trying to get faster on. Thanks very much.

    Advantage in Penalty Area

Today I so happy with my officiating. It was a tough game with a red card after 13 minutes (violent conduct). The away team said I did a great job, it was a superb game of football after the 13 minutes, and it actually a joy to officiate. However one thing that has gone through my mind is an...

Scored after being offside, but not gaining advantage?

Sorry seems to be a few missing t's in my post. But yes, this is how I understood is as well. Their manager was furious because the player was originally offside although at this point was not involved in play. Only when Player 1 shot the second time, was he then involved. Thanks very much.

Scored after being offside, but not gaining advantage?

So, I had an incident on Sunday. Very good game, very tight. - Player 1 onside, Player 2 was slightly off. - Player 1 got the ball played to them and ran through on goal. Stuffed it up and shot straight at the keeper. - Rebounded off of the keeyer, and Player 1 again but hits the post. -...

    Abuse and Decision Making

A big thank you to everyone who has responded. Just a few things - My question on chatting back I will say mainly has come because the players only seem to follow their parents. I have found that teams where there are non abusive parents have a much better game than the ones that do. I will...
