    Shelvey goal vs Sheff Utd

Following the goal in Leicester-Everton, another even stronger example of what I see as a folly decision by PGMOL to instruct ARs to flag on tight offsides (from 6:33): https://goals2.estreamall.com/player/html/21gxeT3U0R?popup=yes&autoplay=1 What's the advantage of flagging here? 'Cos there...

World Cup SCO ARG - The Timekeeper

Not really; looks absolutely clear to me that she was in front of the line. But, again, she only left the line part way through the penalty taker's downswing.

World Cup NGA FRA (GK off line)

Not to mention the number of goalkeepers that are going to be dismissed. I think this is perhaps the worst rule change I've ever seen.

World Cup NGA FRA (GK off line)

Pffetic. The keeper's heel only leaves the line when the France player's kicking leg is already on the downswing: Even as the penalty taker connects with it, she's barely off the line: Given the way that strikers stutter, vary their run ups, and can vary the amount of backswing, or even...

    AUS BRA

I haven't reffed for a few years so I get that the laws have changed. But, to me, the attacker goes for the ball, influences play, and pretty much causes the goal, all from a clearly offside position. I'm disappointed to see it stand.

    Hammers Pool

That ARing for the Liverpool goal is about the worst I've ever seen too. I can't get my head around what he was doing. Video here: https://www.goalsarena.org/en/video/england-barclays-premier-league/04-02-2019-west-ham-united-1-1-liverpool.html

    Serbia v Switzerland

That's a pen for me. Both defenders have him in a lock before he puts his hands near their heads/shoulders to try and get himself free. Though maybe if he hadn't done that and just let them take him down he'd have got one? And fair play to him for only being interested in trying to get to the...

    World Cup Brazil-Costa Rica

Seems to be a very distinct absence of yellow cards for diving at this World Cup - I was amazed not to see one for Neymar. I thought Kuipers was great - but his blood definitely appeared to boil over at the end. He let all the Costa Rica players scream in his face after the pen award, but when...

    Injury time in injury time

The ref in the OP was wrong (if this really happened). Also, anyone else who thinks you need to add 6 minutes is wrong. Those who think, once play has restarted (after 6 or 10 or 16 minutes) 30 more seconds should be played are right. It's kind of obvious really. I'm surprised anyone's...

    Bournemouth vs West Ham

Agreed. And without knowing why the flag was raised, a lot of the discussion is moot. With reference to the video, can you illustrate your assertion please?

    Bournemouth vs West Ham

The last sentence refers to interference though, not the touch. You're right, of course, that whether or not there was a touch isn't interpretation, but whether they've seen it. Are we 100% sure yet that the AR raised the flag for offside?

    Bournemouth vs West Ham

I don't think anyone's debating that Wilson was in an offside position (now). PS How do you "smell" offside? ;)

    Bournemouth vs West Ham

I should point out that by "right decision" I probably meant "in the grand scheme of things" - ie, given the tiny scale of any possible offence, it was probably right that the goal stood - rather than "right in law, after studying various angles in slow motion". Whether it was "right in law" is...

    Bournemouth vs West Ham

    1. There appears to be an assumption that Wilson was clearly offside. Freeze frame video shows this isn't necessarily the case. Or was certainly close enough to not have been seen: 2. LoTG page 180 says what to do in a goal/no goal situation: I've always believed in the event of a dubious...

    Euro 2016 round-up

Fair enough on the Ramsey card, and good for him for his philosophical and mature acceptance of it. And totally agree on the Skrtel challenge on Williams. I thought that was a penalty all day long, and was very surprised it wasn't given seeing how close the AAR was to it. Too close, perhaps...
